Kyle's pov
We'd cleaned off Crow and now the small angel was wearing my clothes! They were far too big for him but I couldn't contain my happiness from seeing him in my hoodie!
I laughed as I told him, "we'll go shopping later. But you look so cute!"
Crow didn't respond, he was holding onto Ryan's arm and looking at the floor. I smiled at him before gently picking him up bridal style, carrying him out of the house to the car.
My smile turned to a grin as he snuggled into my chest. One of the guards, Stacy, opened the door to the car, smiling as she saw the little angel in my arms. She commented, "looks like a keeper."
I chuckled and said, "he definitely is. He came from that awful academy where they're just raising assassins, he's a necromancer so he wasn't treated well. We had to buy him like he was an object, poor little thing. But we'll take good care of him now, and we already know he loves sugar so I'm going to introduce him to Nutella."
Stacy laughed and warned me, "be careful. Once he's had some he'll always want more. The first time my nephew had Nutella he ate the whole jar."
Crow shifted in my arms so I got into the car with him, buckling his seatbelt since he'd struggled a bit last time. I put my arm around his neck and he snuggled into me, I lightly kissed his head as we watched Ryan and Christian hop in the car.
Ryan sat down in front of Crow while Christian sat down beside me. Ryan gently kissed Crow, then leaned back into his seat so he could see Crow better.
Stacy climbed in the back of the limo with us, shutting the door behind her. She looked at Crow and asked, "what's your name love?"
I answered for him, "his names Crow. At the academy nobody taught him how to talk, so we're going to teach him. He tried to speak today, but he couldn't pronounce stuff properly."
I noticed the small boy was holding onto my hand tightly, and I realized that he had no clue who Stacy was.
Stacy smiled as she told Crow, "I'm Stacy. I'm the head of the security team. We'll be seeing each other a lot."
Crow didn't so much as glance at her, he just leaned further into the seat.
Christian grabbed a blanket from under the seat and said, "here you go baby, you look cold."
Crow quickly took the blanket and covered himself with it, burying his head into my side. I finally understood that he was scared of Stacy, but I couldn't figure out why. I used the mind link to ask, why is he afraid of Stacy?
Christian replied, because she's like 6'4" and she's wearing heels. She is buff and to normal people she would be terrifying. She probably reminds him of one of the kids at the academy too.
Ryan rubbed Crow's back soothingly, which made him stop squeezing my hand so tightly.
Stacy quickly understood what was happening and apologized, "I am so sorry for scaring you Crow. I know I look mean, but I promise you I will keep you and your mates safe."
Crow made no motion to show that he had heard, but he did relax against me. I smiled at Stacy to let her know Crow was okay and she returned the expression.
Once everyone was buckled Stacy told the driver we were good to go. The limo quickly started to drive towards Stella's diner. It was a retro style diner, 80's themed. But it was specifically designed for people like us, we couldn't risk going out into public so casually because of our line of business.
The limo pulled up outside the diner and I unbuckled my seatbelt, making sure Crow was unbuckled before I went to hop out of the car. I was stopped by Stacy's arm and she sternly told me, "the reason you went to that academy in the first place was because we needed to up security. Sit back down and cuddle with Crow while we scout the area." She opened the door and stepped out, quietly shutting the door behind her.
