What was I doing here? Sitting across a stranger who claimed himself to be the 'God of Death', sipping on my chocolate milkshake. "Sir, I may have resorted to meeting you but I don't seek any trouble" I should've gotten up ages ago and headed outside but his aura intrigued me more and more as time passed by.
He sipped on his own ordered beverage while gazing at me, intently. "Do you believe that I'm the 'God of Death'?" His question added ambiguity in the air, causing more confusion to rise in my mind.
"I don't know" I just shrugged my shoulders while continuing tasting my milkshake. I felt so much smaller and younger compared to him, it felt weird. "Teenagers your age might be screaming their head off and running away from me, You're different though"
"You haven't given me the chance to take a run" I was surprised at my own choice of actions, completely trusting a stranger and that too, a really creepy one. His eyes suddenly looked around the cafe, my eyes following suit. I froze in my chair when I looked around the people, unmoving as all of them freezed at their own places and in the middle of the actions they were doing.
Death snapped his fingers and suddenly everyone started moving, normally. "How'd you..do that?" my lips were quickering in fear as I watched him give me a big smirk. It made him look more intimidating.
"What do...you want from me?" There's no way in hell I was ready to die soon. Why was Death visiting me out of all the people and- "Kwon Soonyoung" I didn't know what shook me more, the utter of his name or the softness in his voice. His eyes held a deep sorrow when he said his name.
"The boy whose funeral you had just attended" My brows were rising up in confusion, "What about him?" my heart was pounding in my chest, ready to pop out of my mouth. "Strike a deal with me?" Deal? What's the deal with him?
"I'll send you back 17 days in time. Save him" the way he said those words so ordinarily, sent a shiver down my spine. I knew my eyes looked like it could pop out of it's socket any minute "You want me to what?"
"He was too young, his soul wasn't even complete. It would've been alright if he died naturally but.." I couldn't wrap my head around a thing that he was saying, "Though it's against the heavenly law, I'm giving you a chance to save him" He was going against the Heavenly Law? For Soonyoung?
"Why me though?" The first question that had rose in the back of my mind. His gaze lingered on me before he spoke, "I had the opportunity to select anyone, perhaps even his closest friends, but among all those mourning his loss, it was you who carried the greatest burden of guilt."
A roll went down my throat. "Why are you trying to save him though? Aren't you supposed to be evil and cruel?" his click of tongue at my words made me realise, I had set foot on the wrong way. "Those are assumptions about me and for your kind information, you ask a lot of questions. I'm getting tired" he covered his mouth, suppressing a yawn.
"Put yourself in my shoes and see if you won't ask any questions in this situation" Now it was my turn to shrug my shoulders. "I'll send you back 17 days before, are you ready to accept the deal?" So..he wasn't going to answer any of my questions but I won't stop asking either.
"Why 17 days?" My tone was turning casual as if I was talking to a acquaintance, "Because, it's the boy's favourite number and also my.. favourite number. It's also the name of his idiotic group and it" I was just about to comment-
"And it also took him 17 days to decide how to kill himself" I shuddered at his last words. Unable to hear it again, that he killed himself. "So are you gonna accept the deal?" This question again...
"Deal. I'll go back and save him"
