Chapter 9: betting

All of the sudden the three heard loud music and people yelling, Daniel and Victoria looked at where it was coming from.

"What's going on in here?" Daniel asked looking through a window

Victoria nodded as her eyebrows furrowed, also trying to look through the window.

"This bad place. We don't want to go in here." Komiko tried to stop the two Americans

Victoria was interested, "I say we go check it out."

Daniel nodded, "yeah I agree."

They started towards the entrance, Komiko gently protested but neither Daniel or Victoria cared as they walked in. The yelling was way louder inside as everyone crowded in a circle, Victoria pushed through the people trying to see what the huge deal was.

Finally she saw it, the ice as a man thrusting his hand at it trying to break it but he only broke one piece. This is what they were betting on, if they would be able to break it.

"Do you think I could do that?" Daniel asked the two girls and Victoria nodded. "Of course you can Karate Kid."

They watched as another man attempted to break all the ice. He thrusted his hand against the ice but not all of them broke, the man pulled his hand back in pain.

"See I told you, you gotta use your hip." Daniel explains

"Be he looks so strong." Komiko responded as Victoria added. "No, you gotta be strong here, not here."

She pointed to her head before her arms, Daniel nodded looking at her. He couldn't help but smile.

"It doesn't make a difference." Daniel ended his sentence before the last guy stepped closer to him. "Why, you think you can do better, big mouth, huh? You think you can do better? Huh drop some ice."

At that moment Victoria cussed under her breath watching as Chozen cut through the crowd.

"I don't know!" Daniel yelled out as Chozen stood in front of him. "Then let us find out, huh?"

Victoria groaned and rolled her eyes, he always seemed to be here when they were.

"Maybe some other time." Daniel replied and tried walking away before Chozen grabbed him

"There is no other time!" The boy growled at Daniel

Victoria stood there watching as Komiko stood close to the girl. Victoria zeroed in on Daniel and Chozen.

"Listen, whatever problems Mr. Miyagi has with your uncle, they don't have to be ours. Let me out of here." Daniel would try to leave but Chozen kept on pushing him back

"No we have our own." Chozen spat back

Victoria grabbed Komiko's hand as she turned to look over her shoulder, "go get Mr. Miyagi."

She nodded and pushed past Chozen, Daniel called out to her trying to follow her but Chozen kept him there.

"You go nowhere! Cal my uncle. You will take a bet. I give three to one." Victoria gulped, this wasn't going to end well

"What? No, no, no." Daniel shook his head. "I'm not doing it! I'm not doing it!"

"You have a choice. Broken ice or broken neck."

A guy from the crowd asked, "hey, he's got to break all three, right?"

"Wrong!" Chozen exclaimed. "All six"

Victoria cussed under her breath, her heart raced as she stood there. There was no easy way out of this. A man called for bets and Victoria looked back at the door hoping that Miyagi would come soon.
