I woke up to my doorbell ringing. I thought the others had come home from the party last night, guess not. Why were they ringing the doorbell though? They have a key. Maybe it wasn't them.
I slowly crawled out of bed, trying not to wake Bill up. Though our doorbell is quite loud, I wouldn't doubt he was already awake. The doorbell rang again as I walked towards the front door. Pulling the door open, I scratched my head and when I opened my eyes, Tom was standing there. My eyes widened at his presence. I shut the door slightly as I spoke.
"Uh, you can't be here." I said shaking my head. Why was he here anyway?
"Why?" He said with a slight chuckle. Before I could speak, Bill's voice was heard from behind me.
"Babe? Who's at the door?" Bill yawned as he peeked at who was standing outside. I pressed my lips together in pure embarrassment. Bill stared back at his twin brother, while my eyes were fixated on the ground. I looked up to see Tom's jaw slightly open, his eyebrows extremely furrowed.
"Harley? Are you serious?" He said with huffs of breath. I sighed, rubbing my forehead. I didn't know what to say. Bill didn't say a word either.
"Forget it." Tom spat as he walked back to his car. I heard his engine start as I slowly shut my front door. I turned around to face Bill, not even looking up at him. I crossed my arms, leaning against the door in disbelief.
"He was never suppose to find out like that." I whispered as I stared down at the carpet. Bill placed both of his hands on my shoulders before pulling me into a hug. I placed my hands on his back, my eyes still open as he hugged me tighter. After a few seconds I slowly closed my eyes, wrapping my arms further around his back. I sighed into his shoulder as he pulled away. He stared into my eyes, trying to find the right words to say.
"He'll get over it, Harley. I swear." He whispered as he slightly kneeled down to meet my face. I stared blankly at him then looking around the room. I sighed, rolling my eyes as I left his arms to sit on my couch. He followed behind me, sitting next to me with his body facing mine.
"Is it wrong that I feel kind of bad?" I asked as I turned my head to look at him. He stared back at me, then straight ahead.
"No, I feel kind of bad too." He said softly as he turned to look at me again.
"I don't want to think about this anymore. Can we get some food?" I asked as I got up from the couch.
"Sure. I'll drive." Bill replied. I tossed him my keys as we walked out the front door.
He drove to a near by McDonald's and ordered some pancakes and sausage for me and a mcgriddle for himself. We sat in the parking lot, talking and eating our food until we had finished our meals. Bill drove himself home and hopped out of the driver seat for me. I stepped out of the car, meeting him on the other side.
"Are you going to be okay?" I asked as I pursed my lips.
"I think so. I'll text you if he says anything about it." He replied with a slight smile on his face. I sighed, cupping his cheek and pulling him in for a soft kiss.
"I love you." I smiled at his words.
"I love you too." I replied with my hand still on his cheek. He walked up his driveway before I drove back to my house.
