The cafe on this street was pretty tiny and not that busy. I decided I wouldn't wait for Tom to grab my coffee and placed my order for an iced mocha. As I sat drinking my coffee the bell on the door rang and I looked up. Tom stood there, looking around until his eyes met mine. I smiled at him, signaling he could come over as he took the seat in front of me.
"You got coffee already?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"Yeah, sorry I wasn't going to pay for yours." I said having a slight attitude.
"No, it's all good. I didn't mean it like that." He replied as he scooted his chair in a bit more.
"Before you start, I just want you to know that I genuinely am sorry, from the bottom of my heart, about what happened." Tom said as he stared into my eyes. I knew his words were fake, but they still drew me in. I remembered what Bill said, about Tamara broke up with him, and how he deserved this. I shook my mind off of it and began my sentence.
"I've been thinking about us a lot, and i've made my decision," I saw his eyes glisten at my words.
"I don't want to be with you." I scoffed with a smile on my face. His face dropped as I picked up my coffee and walked out of the cafe doors. It felt almost nice to finally get Tom off my ass. I drove back to my house, thinking about Bill the entire way over. What were we now that Tom was completely out of my life? Would we still just be friends?
As I pulled into my driveway I pulled my key out of the ignition and stepped out of the driver seat. I entered my home and slowly walked towards my bedroom door. I could hear my TV playing, so I assumed Bill was watching something. I pushed the door open to see Bill sleeping peacefully on my bed. I sighed as I set my bag down on my dressed and walked over to where he was laying. I sat down next to him, stroking his soft hair until his eyes fluttered open.
"Hey." I whispered softly, not wanting to alert him as he had just gotten up.
"Did you handle everything?" Bill asked in a low voice as he sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"Yeah." I smiled down at him as he looked up at me. He slowly leaned in for a warm kiss as we sat together on my bed.
"I've actually been thinking about us though," I started as Bill and I fully adjusted ourselves to where we were facing one another.
"I'm ready for something serious, if you are. I know i've had it rough after Tom, but I believe you're different. I'm willing to give us a chance if you are." I spoke as Bill placed his hand on mine. He smiled warmly at me as he stared into my eyes.
"I'm ready too." He whispered as he leaned in to softly kiss my cheek. I closed my eyes at his touch as I felt him pull away. He squeezed my hands once, allowing me to open my eyes and I noticed him tilting his head.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" Bill asked as he shifted himself underneath my blankets. I giggled as he was basically buried from my blankets but snuck in next to him. We watched movies for the remainder of the time and eventually fell asleep together.
During the night, I woke up for some reason. I looked up at Bill who's arms were wrapped around my waist. He looked so cute sleeping, his mouth slightly hung open as his chest rose and fell. I pressed myself up against his chest and listened to his heart beat. It was slow and steady, yet it boomed powerfully.
I turned over in his arms, reaching for what I thought was my phone. I had picked up his phone by accident and his lock screen was a picture of me he had took at a flower field. I never knew he took this photo, let alone that it was his lock screen. I smiled as I placed his phone down, eventually falling asleep in his arms again.
