Tanjirou managed to dodge the sudden rising pillar in the last second.
"Tanjirou!" Giyuu screamed.
"I'm fine!" Tanjirou reassured.
Then, the ground beneath Tanjirou's feet lifted suddenly, the force pinning him down.
"What the-?"
Tanjirou heard a biwa being strum as the pillars and doors moved. He looked down and saw a demon holding a biwa. In her pale pink eye was carved the Upper 4 kanji.
"Upper 4?! But we defeated Upper 4? Is she a replacement? Already?"
Tanjirou took a deep breath and prepared to attack. However something fast came and hit his head, knocking him out. He fell and thumped near the biwa demon. Upper 4 raised the bachi in her hand. Before she could, someone placed a paper infront of her eye. When she strum someone pulled Tanjirou from beneath the fastly lowering pillar, saving him from getting crushed.
As the two who saved Tanjirou's life made sure Upper 4 wouldn't see the truth and made sure Tanjirou was okay, Tanjirou was seeing something that he hadn't ever seen.
"What's going on?"
Tanjirou looked around. He was in a shabby house or a shack. He felt like he was smaller. It was cold. He saw blood beneath himself.
"Where am I? I can't smell anything."
The door was broken, allowing snow from the outside slip inside the dark room. The snow covered Tanjirou. Tanjirou couldn't move, he felt himself slowly go numb.
"Yo-Yoshihiko...?"
Someone called out. Tanjirou felt himself raise his head towards the voice.
"Who is that?"
It was a woman with long black hair and an old tattered kimono. Tanjirou's mouth began moving. The voice that spoke was feeble, barely able to form a word.
"Mama...?"
The woman rushed over to Tanjirou, dropping the plate she was carrying.
"Yoshihiko..."
The woman took Tanjirou in her arms, and only now Tanjirou noticed that he seemed to be in a body of a four year old.
"Yoshihiko!"
Tanjirou felt his eyes close.
"What's going on? Who was that?"
