Her heart ached yet again. Nakime was internally panicking at the realization. She had killed her precious son. Her only child. Her baby. The only thing that made her truly happy...

Yoshihiko, at first glance, wasn't recognizable. But Nakime could recognise her baby anywhere. Even though he looked different, his eyes were the same. A bright ruby colored that held so much love, affection, kindness, and determination.

There her son was. Crushed under a pillar that she had sent towards him. Nakime trembled, her biwa falling to the ground as she stared at the figure of her son. She took a step towards him, her breathing becoming short as she trembled. All sorts of emotions rushing through her head.

Nakime stared at her son. The bright red eyes that were once so full of life were now dull and empty, staring lifelessly at the ceiling above.

Nakime's eye began to water, her hands now trembling severely, and her breaths coming in quick. Her once cold and cruel heart aching as she stared at his body.

She took another step forward. Her eye watering as she now knelt beside her only child, her precious baby. Nakime's fingers trembled as they shakily reached out and to touch his cheek.

Only... Her hand went right through him. Nakime blinked in confusion, and then something fell onto the floor. It looked like a paper. Then Nakime realized that Yoshihiko's corpse wasn't there anymore.

She looked down, to see what had fallen. Her eye widening further as she realized that her son's body was gone. She shakily picked up the paper that had been left behind in the spot that her son had once laid. Her hand trembling severely as she held the paper. The paper had a strange symbol on it.

Her full attention now switched to the paper that she clutched between her trembling fingers. Her eye scanning the paper, and the strange symbol it held. She tilted her head in slight confusion.

Then, she heard the cursing from somewhere nearby. Her head raised and turned in the direction that it had come from, looking for the source of disturbance.

Nakime spotted three demon slayers. One with pale skin and sharp, lavender eyes. He has short hair that is neatly styled and vertically shaded from a dull and light green to black. Another one with round black eyes and short messy spiky black hair. And the third one-

The third one is Yoshihiko, unconsious, but alive. Yoshihiko was there. Alive and unharmed. She felt a wave of relief rush through her as she stared at his unconscious form, being held up by the second slayer.

The first demon slayer is a demon. Nakime heard about Tamayo, the traitor demon. This demon must be another traitor demon. Her eye narrowed at the demon. Her eye lowered to the paper in her hand. She wonders if it was this blood demon art that had caused the previous strange event.

The two watched Nakime carefully, waiting for the moment Nakime would move to grab her biwa and attack. Nakime stood silently for a few moments. She stared at the two in front of her, who had their guard up and were clearly ready to fight her if she made any sudden movements.

Her gaze then flickered towards Yoshihiko as the boy began to stir from his unconscious state. His eyes slowly blinking open and looking around sluggishly. Nakime's eye widened slightly in surprise and relief at the sight. Her breathing becoming a bit shaky again.

The demon slayer looked down at Yoshihiko. "Tanjirou, can you stand on your own?"

Yoshihiko blinked and nodded. "Yeah, I can."

Nakime watched them quietly. Listening to the conversation that they were having. Her eye flickering between the two in front of her, and the now fully awake Yoshihiko. Hearing the demon slayer call him by the wrong name caused something inside her to almost snap. Her eye narrowing slightly, yet she stayed silent. Her fingers clutching the paper in her tight grip.

"Nakime." Muzan's voice rang in her ears.

Nakime flinched. "Yes, Muzan-sama?"

"Why is the Hanafuda slayer still alive? Kill them all." Muzan demanded.

She had to kill them. Muzan ordered her to. But she turned her gaze to Yoshihiko, and tears threatened to spill again. Her precious baby was still alive, and she was supposed to kill him? To take the life he had been granted away? What kind of mother would she be if she were to kill her own son?

She'd be no better than her scumbag husband.

And she didn't want that. There was two things that she hated. Her husband, and seeing Yoshihiko hurt.

Killing Yoshihiko would not only hurt him, but also make her like her husband, even worse.

"Nakime." Muzan's voice rang in her head again. "Why are you hesitating? Those slayers are incredibly weak and tired. It should not take you much effort to kill them."

Nakime couldn't. She just couldn't.

"...Muzan-sama, I'm willing to kill the other two, but is there a way for the Hanafuda slayer to be spared?" Nakime clenched her fists when she referred to Yoshihiko as 'Hanafuda slayer'.

"And why should he be spared?"

Because he's my son. Nakime knew that Muzan would not give two shits about that reasoning. But what else could be the reason to spare him? She was a mother, and a good mother would not kill her child so heartlessly. She might be a demon, but she still loves her sweet baby.

Muzan clearly didn't bother anymore. Nakime knew that he'd come deal with Yoshihiko later, but was busy at the moment. Until then, Nakime would make sure to figure out how she could save Yoshihiko.

And this time she'd make sure that he didn't die in her arms again.
