Description of Carrington : She has red hair like Ian, she has one blue eye and one green eye. She is on the shorter side, and around 5'4 feet tall. I hope you enjoy!

It was another day after school, I was sitting behind the register at Kash and Grab while my brother Ian was restocking the shelves. If I am being honest with myself I could care less to be working in this part of town, but I wanted to protect my brother as much as I could, it wasn't ever that much though. Plus my family needed the money.

I was reading my bible behind the counter when I heard my name being called. I glanced up to see my brother standing in front of me with a small smile.

" I'm going to go restock some things in the freezer section, please don't bother me." -He said without breaking the small smirk on his face.

I nodded my head ok and went back to reading. I believed him.

For the rest of my shift it was pretty busy, some people came in to buy stuff, but they mainly just yelled at me for high prices.

Me and Ian were in charge of closing up at night. I am so glad that I don't have to do it by myself, because I already don't like being in this part of Chicago during the day, I really didn't like it at night.

As me and Ian walked home it was silent for the most part, you could hear people yelling in the distance.

" Carri, can I ask you something?" -Ian asked me.

I slowed down my walking and turned to face him.

" Is there heaven and hell? Or is that just made up?" -Ian asked me.

I thought to myself. I saw this as maybe an opening to getting my brother to get into religion.

" Yes there is. Are you interested in joining me at my youth group tomorrow before school?" -I tried to hide the excitement in my tone of voice.

" Maybe, but that uh that isn't what I was getting at. In your religion, is gay accepted?" -Ian asked, stuttering over all of his words.

" Um, what do you mean?" -I asked.

" Like, being gay, is that ok?" -He asked, looking at the ground.

I sighed. " I'm not sure. I love to think everyone is accepted, and I feel everyone should be accepted. Is there something that you need to tell me Ian?" -I asked.

" I-I'm gay." -He bluntly said.

I just stared at him. I tried to remove my focus from his face, but I couldn't. I felt this warm feeling in my chest though. All I could do was hug my brother. I felt happy for him. That he is finally being the person he was meant to be. He reluctantly hugged me back, it may have been the fact that he was taken back by how I took the information.

I kissed his cheek. " I am so proud of you Big E" -I said while still hugging him.

After hugging for what feels like forever, we started to head home.

We laughed the whole way home, it felt like a barrier between us had finally been broken. As we entered the house I noticed how quickly Ian's body movement changed. It's like he has two different personalities. I am glad that I am a part of the one he feels free with.

" I'll meet you upstairs in a little bit." -I told Ian as I walked to the kitchen, and he walked up the stairs.

I walked to the kitchen and sat down at the counter, it was peaceful, it was nice. But of course in a big family, the silence didn't last for long. I was interrupted by Debbie and Carl fighting over a doll that Carl stole from Debbie's room.
