Ginny and I are getting ready in my dorm.
"So you didn't get a date?"
"Um..."
I haven't told Ginny that Draco asked, no, told me to go to the dance with him. I feel bad for not telling my best friend. I wanted to tell her, but I also wanted to surprise her. I kept procrastinating, and now it's Yule Ball night and she doesn't know. I guess she'll be bloody surprised now. Although, I don't want her to pee her new dress.
Ginny's staring at me, and I realise I spent much too long thinking about a simple question.
"Uh, no."
She stares at me. She always sees right through me, but this time she doesn't drag it on. "Alright."
She stands back to look at her reflection.
I gasp. "Ginny, you look BEAUTIFUL!" Her dress is light and airy, covered in very light pink tulle. The bodice is covered with small pearls, and she has pearl earrings to match. I did her hair in a half up half down, and wispy strands frame her face.
She blushes. "Thank you. You too."
I stare at my own reflection and smile. My dress is emerald satin, with a slit by my left leg. It's strapless with puffs of emerald tulle cradling my arms beneath the shoulders. The hem stops just at my ankles to prevent tripping of myself and others. I wore my hair down and lightly curled, and for my one princess moment, I placed my grandma's wedding tiara on my head and smiled at my reflection, before taking it off and carefully placing it back into the velvet box. We both have very light makeup. (A/N: would be incredibly grateful if someone dropped a pin link in the comments of that dress because I have been looking for years and it's still my dream prom dress it lives rent free in my head)
"Are you ready for us to be the most gorgeous girls in the room?" Ginny grins at me.
"I've been anticipating it."
We walk down out of the Slytherin common room and to the dungeons, where Draco and Neville are waiting. Neville looks uncomfortable, but Draco smiles upon seeing me. He looks incredibly handsome in an all black suit.
"You look beautiful," Neville says to Ginny.
"You look gorgeous," Draco says to me.
Ginny looks like she's about to faint.
"Hold on, Neville, I need to ask Eliza something," Ginny pulls me away and leaves Draco with the unfortunate Neville.
"You're going with DRACO?!"
"Shh! Yes! I'm so sorry! Please don't be angry! I wanted to surprise you, but I kept putting it off, and before I knew it it was Yule Ball night! I'm so sorry!" I almost start to tear up, but Ginny pulls me into a hug.
"This is brillant! Now don't cry, you're going to smear your mascara!"
I smooth my dress back down. "I love you Ginny."
"I love you too, now go meet your boyfriend!"
I pull her back. "That's just the thing. We're not courting or anything. I won't even let him call me his 'date'. I'm not sure how I feel yet."
"Keep playing hard to get. C'mon!"
"I'm not playing!"
"That's the Eliza I know! Now c'mon!"
We walk back to the boys where Draco is sneering at Neville. As we take their arms, I whisper in his ear.
"Be nice."
