"Ced I'm nervous. What if I'm a squib?" I timidly clutch my trunk's handle, my head spinning at the activity all around us.
My older brother squeezes my hand. "You'll do great. And you're not a squib. We've all seen you do magic."
"True."
"I love you two! Have a good year! Now get on the train! It's leaving!" Our dad gives us a big hug.
"Love you!" mum calls.
"C'mon Eliza!" Cedric pulls me onto the scarlet steam engine.
I lean out of the window as far as my little body will allow. "Bye Dad, bye mum!"
They wave as the train pulls away from the station and into the hills.
I sit down next to Ced and bite my lip. There's so much happening around me. Cedric shoves me off his seat.
"Go sit with your friends! I'm sitting with mine."
Sure enough, some fourth year Hufflepuffs come down the aisle and sit with him, glancing at me. No doubt I've been mentioned, but now I probably am just perceived as his dumb little sister tagging along.
"This might not have occurred to you, but I don't have any friends."
"Then go make some." He shoves me again.
"I hope I get sorted into Hufflepuff just so I can pester you!" I yell at him as I walk away. "Not," I mutter under my breath.
I roll my eyes and go to the next train car. Not without tripping of course.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry." A pretty ginger-haired girl leans over and helps me up.
"It's okay, would you like to sit with me? I need someone to sit with." I say, the corners of my mouth tugging upwards.
She plops down in her seat. "Yes. Thank you so much. What's your name?" she asks me, tucking her flaming hair behind her ears.
"Eliza Diggory, you?"
"Ginny Weasley. So you're Cedric's sister then, right?"
"Yep. What house do you hope you're sorted into?" I reply, rearranging myself so I'm comfortable on the seat.
"Gryffindor. Our entire family has been sorted into Gryffindor." She smiles proudly.
"I hope I get Gryffindor too then." I smile in return.
"Isn't your brother Hufflepuff?" Ginny asks.
"Yes, but I'm not exactly... Hufflepuff material."
"You do seem a bit Gryffindor-y," Ginny laughs.
We talk and by the time we make it to Hogwarts I feel much lighter.
"I think we're going to be good friends for the next seven years," Ginny smiles.
"Absolutely!" I wrap my arms around her and she hugs me back.
"Wait, what about our trunks?" I ask.
"They'll make their way to our dorms."
"I'm scared for the sorting." I admit as everyone shuffles around due to the train stopping.
"We'll be fine," Ginny grabs my hand and smiles.
