Wearing a very short blue backless dress with tons of makeup applied forcefully by Rose, I felt utterly uncomfortable as we entered the party thrown by my parents' friends, especially my mom's. The memories of my mother washed over me, and I couldn't help but think about how Uncle Sam used to visit me with gifts and chocolates. Those visits had ceased after my mother's death, leaving a void in my life.
As we entered, I was enveloped in the fatherly voice of Uncle Sam, his warm hug providing a momentary respite from the overwhelming atmosphere. In that embrace, it felt like my mother had returned, showering me with warmth, care, and love. I cherished that hug; it had been so long since someone had held me so warmly. I felt blessed, and genuine happiness washed over me.
With polite greetings, I acknowledged Uncle Sam's presence, and he seemed genuinely pleased. "You have grown so much, just perfect and beautiful like your mother," he said emotionally, his hand resting on my head as he offered his blessings. "Make yourself comfortable, sweetheart, and if you need anything, just call me. I'm here for you." His comforting words provided a brief solace before he moved on to greet other guests, leaving me in the company of my dad and Nancy.
My dad and Nancy immersed themselves in conversations with their friends, and I found myself abandoned by Rose once more. She had swiftly moved on, searching for another wealthy suitor, her gaze scanning the room for her Prince Charming. Meanwhile, she had left me stranded in a world I felt entirely disconnected from - a world of media, billionaires, celebrities, and top businessmen. I couldn't shake the feeling that I didn't belong here, and the painful truth hung over me like a heavy cloud: Nobody needed me, and nobody wanted me. It was a feeling of utter despair, and I couldn't fathom why this was my reality.
After a while, Rose turned to our dad, seeking information about her target for the evening. "Dad, where is he, my Prince Charming? I want him to be here," she declared dramatically, her act of cuteness aimed at our father, who had now, in a sense, become her father too.
"He must be there," Dad replied, turning to scan the room. "There," he pointed, indicating a man named Jacob Knight. Jacob possessed broad shoulders, and a perfectly chiseled body, and was dressed in a striking black Armani suit.
Rose wasted no time. She seized my hand roughly, and I couldn't decipher her intentions. "You just wait and watch, Heaven. Observe everything, like how I'm going to make him get on his knees for me. It will be helpful for you as well, after all, I don't have any competition here. Am I right?" Her words dripped with pride and arrogance, and I could do nothing but nod, feeling entirely powerless.
She dragged me along as we approached my dad. Nervousness consumed me, and I felt like an intruder in this high-society world. Dad turned to the man, Jacob Knight, who was deeply engaged in conversation with others. "Excuse me, Mr. Knight?" Dad's voice quivered with uncertainty.
As Jacob turned around, his presence was even more overpowering, and I couldn't help but curse under my breath. This was the last thing I expected. It was him-the man I had bumped into earlier. The man who had left me flustered and bewildered. The man who was not just any man but a multi-billionaire, Jacob Knight, the wildest fantasy of every girl in our country. My heart raced as the room buzzed with excitement. And in the midst of it all, I stood there, caught in a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainty.
Jacob Knight slowly turned around and greeted my father with a kind of rude attitude. I watched as Rose moved closer to him, shaking his hand while subtly flirting. I silently thanked my luck that he hadn't noticed me yet. My plan was clear - I needed to escape before he laid eyes on me. However, just as I was about to turn and leave, Dad spoke up.
"Mr. Knight, here's my wife, Nancy, and these are my daughters, Rose and Heaven," he introduced us politely. Jacob's heated and intense gaze scanned my entire body, making me wish I could hide from his unreadable expressions. His eyes lingered on my lips, and he licked his own in a way that sent shivers of fear down my spine.
"Oh God! Why does this always happen to me?" I thought, my anxiety is growing. He continued staring at me for what felt like an eternity, but then he quickly covered it up with a strange smile on his face. He extended his hand toward me for a handshake.
"Pleasure to meet you, Miss Heaven Emir," he said through clenched teeth. I trembled in fear but managed to put my hand forward, shaking his hand. "N... Nic... Nice meeting you too, Mr. Knight," I stammered, my voice quivering.
He kept his gaze locked on me for a while, and then Rose interrupted with a dirty, seductive tone, asking if they could have a drink. He looked at her with disgust and ignored her with a death glare. Then, he turned his attention back to me and asked, "May we have a dance, Miss Heaven Emir?"
I panicked internally. Should I say no? But before I could respond, my dad spoke up, "Of course, Mr. Knight." I turned to look at my dad's expression, and he just stared at me, clearly confused. He nodded his head and gestured for me to dance with Jacob.
Jacob took my hand in his large, warm one, and we started moving toward the dance floor. Soft, slow music played in the background. He placed his hand on my waist, and we swayed to the music. His bold touch on my waist sent shivers down my spine, and I gasped.
"Why me? What am I doing here?" I questioned silently. His grip on me was much tighter than anyone else's, and he seemed to enjoy it, flashing an evil smile. I wanted to pull away, but his hold was too strong.
I felt a chill run down my spine with his touch and attempted to move away, but he tightened his hold, pressing me against his chest. I could feel his strength, and fear coursed through me. I tried to break free, but I was trapped in his arms.
"Where are you lost, innocent girl?" he asked in his dangerous, husky voice. I shook my head in disapproval. "Words?" he demanded, squeezing my ass, and I gasped in pain.
"No... no, sir. I'm just following your lead," I replied, my voice trembling.
"It's Jacob. Call me Jacob," he said and continued, "From your inviting lips, my name sounds more attractive."
I could only manage an "Ohh..." in response as I tried to navigate the unexpected intensity of the situation.
Jacob's attractive and enigmatic persona loomed over me, leaving me both mesmerized and fearful of what might come next.
