**Jacob's perspective**
As I stood on the balcony, the gentle evening breeze ruffled my thoughts, carrying with it a sense of uncertainty and longing that I couldn't ignore. Heaven had burst into my life like an unexpected storm, and her mere presence had stirred emotions I believed were long buried.
The world I had known, a world of calculated decisions and ruthless actions, was now thrown into disarray. Her hazel eyes, her trembling vulnerability, and the innocence that radiated from her had shaken the very core of my being.
I found myself torn between the desire to protect her, to shield her from the harshness of reality, and the dark impulses that had defined my existence for so long. It was a battle within me, a struggle between the man I had been and the man I was becoming.
At that moment, on that balcony, I couldn't deny the undeniable truth: Heaven had changed everything. She had ignited a fire within me, a fire that threatened to consume me whole, and I couldn't help but wonder where this unpredictable journey would lead us.
I confessed to Nick, my ever-observant friend, that Heaven's innocence had affected me deeply. The rare warmth in my voice surprised even me. I recalled her scared face, her hazel eyes, and her cherry-pouted lips, each detail etched vividly in my memory, bringing forth a genuine smile.
Nick, perceptive as always, was taken aback by my confession. He knew, as did I, that when a man known for his emotional stoicism begins to show feelings, it usually conceals a tempest within. Nick shared my concern about the potential for our emotions to be entangled and possibly hurt.
The calm composure I displayed after encountering Heaven left Nick utterly perplexed. How could someone like me, Jacob Knight, notorious for my ruthless nature, undergo such a transformation? The answer remained elusive, even to me.
Nick cautiously broached the question that had been haunting him: "And what if you lost her?" My reaction was swift and intense. Fury surged within me at the mere thought of losing her. The flames of anger ignited in my eyes, and I could feel the primal need to protect her at any cost.
The mere idea of Heaven slipping away from me was unbearable. It ignited a fierce, possessive rage that made me want to challenge the world itself. Nick had touched a raw nerve, and he saw it in my eyes.
Sensing my seething anger, Nick knew he had to change the subject swiftly to avoid being the target of my wrath. He turned to Heaven's past, hoping to divert my attention.
"Heaven's past? Are you interested or not?" Nick asked, his voice trembling as he met my cold gaze. Surprisingly, just hearing Heaven's name had a calming effect on me. My anger began to dissipate, and I found myself returning to a state of controlled composure. Nick breathed a sigh of relief, having skillfully averted a potential conflict.
Nick decided to playfully refer to Heaven as my "sister-in-law," a term I surprisingly didn't mind. It felt oddly satisfying to hear him use it. He handed me a file containing information about Heaven.
"I've found every single detail about her. Just read the file and tell me if you are satisfied with my work or not," Nick said with pride in his eyes.
"Okay, Nick. You may go now. I'll tell you whether I like your work or not," I replied, studying the file he had given me. "See you tomorrow."
As Nick departed, I couldn't contain my excitement. This was the moment I had longed for, the opportunity to learn more about Heaven, the woman who had ignited a fire within me.
The file revealed valuable information:
