The scene was charged with tension as Jacob closed the distance between us. My heart raced, and a surge of unease coursed through my veins. Step by step, I retreated until my back met the unyielding wall. His approach was relentless, and although his expression remained inscrutable, his presence radiated heat.
"You're scared," he stated, his voice void of emotion. I couldn't admit it, shaking my head in denial, but my body betrayed me, pinned against the cold wall. He advanced, encircling me in his arms. His fingers traced from my cheekbones to the sensitive skin beside my neck.
"I hate liars," he murmured, sending shivers down my spine as his lips teased my earlobe, and his arms enveloped my waist. His touch was electrifying, igniting my senses.
With a swift, powerful motion, he lifted me, and I surrendered to his strength. He carried me to the couch, my heart pounding, my emotions running wild. I felt a tumultuous mix of fear and excitement.
"Try it," Jacob commanded as his arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. I looked at him in shock. I had never drunk before, and now he wanted me to try it.
But before I could respond, Jacob offered me a drink from the table. My eyes met his, and he watched me expectantly. Slowly, I brought the glass to my lips, taking a sip of the potent liquid. I coughed at the strong taste.
"That's strong," I muttered, my voice strained from the coughing.
He shook his head, taking a sip from the glass while keeping his eyes on me. I wrinkled my nose before attempting to get up from his lap, but his arm remained firmly around my waist, pulling me closer.
"Jacob," I began, but he grabbed my arm tightly, pulling me closer until our faces were inches apart. His clenched jaw and seething anger scared me. His grip on my arm was painful.
"Please, you're hurting me," I whispered.
His voice boomed authoritatively, "VOICE DOWN!" My heart leaped into my throat, and I flinched, tears welling in my eyes.
"Let me tell you one thing, Heaven," Jacob said sternly. "I love you and trust you now, but never in your life try to hide anything from me. Do you understand?"
Confused and shaken, I nodded.
"I need words, Heaven!" he demanded.
Struggling to find my voice, I stammered, "Yes..."
Tension still hung in the room, his anger palpable. I pressed, "Are you alright now?" His silence unnerved me, and I feared his unpredictable anger.
Again, I asked, "Are you okay, Jacob?"
His intense gaze bore into mine, and I waited anxiously. Tears welled in my eyes, and one fell down my cheek. Before I could wipe it away, his hand gently cupped my cheek.
"What happened, Jacob?" I asked, our eyes locked. Confusion and vulnerability filled my voice as I tried to understand the man before me.
Tears continued to pool in my eyes, and one escaped, making its way down my cheek. Jacob's expression remained hardened, his gaze unwavering as he maintained his facade of indifference.
"I'm not mad at you, love," he reassured coldly. "Please don't cry, Heaven."
Jacob poured out the details of what had transpired in his office, and as he recounted the events, a whirlwind of emotions swept through me. Before I could react or say a word, I found myself caught in the unexpected storm of Jacob's lips crashing into mine. His grip on my hand was unyielding, preventing any attempts to push him away. He pressed me forcefully against the wall, and the simmering anger beneath the surface was palpable.
