Layla's Gift

As Lucy opens her eyes she finds herself in the dense forest surrounding the town, in front of her is a large cave. "What was that?"

"Yeah that was awesome!!" Natsu agrees.

Layla blushes, "It was a simple transportation spell."

"Transportation?" Natsu gurgles.

"Idiot!!" Lucy yells, "we aren't moving anymore."

While their parents argue, the teenagers turn their attention to the cave. "Are you sure it is in there?" Igneel asks his sister.

"Yeah and he is growing stronger, but I can take him."

"Sister, please just don't reckless, I don't know if I can handle losing you too."

Layla laughs, "You can't get rid of me that easily." She raises her hand in the air and a golden mist surrounds her. When the mist disappears, she is holding a large golden sword. It seems to radiate light.

Natsu forgets his motion sickness. "Wow nice sword."

Layla swings the sword and a ray of pure light energy penetrates the darkness of the cave, a large snarl answers."He is big one, but not the biggest one I have ever fought." Without warning she runs into the cave.

Igneel stands in front of the cave. "Let's go, she is gonna need our help." He follows, disappearing in the darkness.

Natsu wraps his arm around Lucy, "Stay close to me, I have a bad feeling about this place."

Lucy nods, both of them enter the cave together. Lucy is expecting pitch black, but Layla sword is emitting light that illuminates the inside of the cave. Layla is standing in the middle of the cave, in a defensive stance. Igneel is crouching behind a rock and motions the others to do the same. Lucy and Natsu follow his example.

"I, Lay...... Kayla Drag.... Hono challenge the darkness in this cave, free the girl." She swings her sword in an X pattern. "I offer myself in her stead."

Natsu growls quietly, " No." He prepares to jump out from behind the rock.

Igneel puts his hand on his dad shoulder. "Trust her, please I know its hard but just trust her."

Natsu looks at the boy, "Okay, whatever you say."

A man's silhouette is now able to be seen, then another, then another. They charge at Layla. She dodges their attacks easily. She does a backflip over them.

"Come on can't I have a little more of a challenge." She says as she lands. She then swings her sword upward and it transforms into a massive bow. She draws back the string and shoots and arrow shaped ray of light, it sends on of a sudden it the men flying against a cave wall.

She does the same to the other two, she quickly glances around the cave. "Igneel help me move them before...."

He jumps over the rock and grabs them. "Be careful sis."

"Make sure Mom and Dad stay put alright, I can't handle watching them get hurt, again."

"Don't....." He is interrupted by a large, unearthly roar.

She places her hand on her brothers shoulder. "Go now. He quickly listens to her and disappears behind the rock.

When she is sure her family is safe, she turns to face the monster, "You horrible repulsive creature, you hunt the weak, the defenseless. It is my responsibility to ride the earth of your kind." Her bow turns back into a sword. "Prepare to be cleansed."

The monster is a black mess with no definite shape, two red dots represent eyes. It is huge and filled the whole cave.

Whatever it is makes Natsu's blood boil, he looks at the girl who was bravely standing up to this thing that radiates dark energy. He wants to rush out and protect her, it is some deep feeling, a mixture of strong fear, pride, and something but he can't quite put his finger on. He looks at Lucy and can automatically tell that's she is feeling the same thing.

Layla swings her sword, and her inner Dragneel comes out. "I have been itching for a real fight for weeks. But I don't think I'll find it here." She smiles, the famous Dragneel smile.

The monster does not like the insults this cocky little girl is throwing at him, he bellows in anger and rushes at the oldest Dragneel daughter, a bad idea.

She swings her sword horizontally. "The Darkness may not move." The monster freezes. She swings her sword vertically. "The Darkness may not grow stronger." The monster shrinks. She swings her sword at an angle, finishing the magical pattern. "I, with the blessing of my power and the responsibilities that my power gives me, destroy the darkness. The Darkness may not survive."

With one last bellow, the monster disappears. A small object falls from the sky, a little girl shaped object. Layla jumps up and catches her.

When Layla reaches the ground, she faints. Natsu and Igneel rushes to her aid. Lucy wraps her arms around the crying little girl, that Layla just saved.

Natsu looks at Igneel. "Is she okay?"

"Yeah, she used too much magical energy. She was being reckless." Igneel brushes the hair out his sister's face. "She's a lot like my dad."

Lucy speaks up. "She says her name is Ally White. Her mom is Rebecca."

Igneel takes a deep breath and picks his sister up. "Let's go before more of those things sense the death and come snooping."

Natsu takes the little girl from Lucy, and they leave, not realizing that a man with dark intentions is watching over them.

"Hmm, such power in one family." He laughs evilly. "It would be a shame if some would say snuff out one of those flame-headed fools."

He waves his hand and disappears, his head full of horrible plans for when he finally catches a Dragneel, preferably the girl with the strange ancient magic. He is thinking of ways to extract her magic while breaking her disgustingly perfect body, and crushing her painfully innocent soul.
