How can I live my life with a man who lacks trust in his woman? Or how can I trust him ever again? After the birth of our son, our relationship continued nicely as if we weren't going to have any issues.
Five months more in South Africa with no way of returning home. I asked of home every month and if he hadn't made the promise of us returning then I wouldn't have had my hopes up.
Our son is now six months old.
A week after getting his immunization vaccine and the fever had worn off, this man had me thinking we were heading to the Caribbean. But first, we're making a short stop.
I was blindfolded and had my ears covered with noise-canceling headphones. Being lead on his private jet I knew by the seats, the rich smell, and the experience I had during take off.
I only knew my son was with me when I got them off to feed him three times and that was it, I was drugged asleep by the man I trust.
I woke up in a new environment.
A larger house in the middle of nowhere as the front half had the view of thick forestry and our backyard overlooks the sea or the ocean.
Half is a rocky beach and the other half has a dock filled with boats.
The anxiety I felt as I knew I had nowhere to escape.
Maybe this is a private island and that's my only guest as only yachts in one area and helicopters are by the clearing in a distance.
My body shook with fear as the whole property was surrounded by security and there were no cars in sight.
No phones as I couldn't find my own or any for that matter.
I almost cried blood when I couldn't find my son.
This mansion or castle, whatever it was, was huge.
It took me a good half hour to get to the ground floor since I got lost and that's where I found André and his children.
Our son never left my sight.
I lost trust in everyone, so I ate what I cooked and he let me.
We barely exchanged words, and for Robyn, I was protecting myself against her for she is her father's daughter. I'm only a stranger to this family.
This morning, however, I could tell that something was going to happen.
André came into the room I requested as I wasn't going to sleep in the same bed as him. I only slept when our son did, keeping him close to me at all times.
So with an outfit on the bed, I knew I had to wear it as this has become a routine. It's a semi-formal wear.
He puts out what he wants me to wear and I ask no questions or concerns about it. I'm scared.
It was around lunchtime when I was finished breastfeeding our son that he came and took him in his hand.
Immediately, the room was being surrounded by people.
I sat on the couch watching as men and women of every ethnicity, culture, complexion, and size came in.
Some whom I've seen on television or so I thought, for people in fame is one thing I don't follow up.
I wasn't introduced to anyone except the one man who approached me with a helping hand as they carried documents.
Then I was brought around a table where lots of documents and large folders were placed.
André still stood aside with our son in his arms as he slept soundly.
His emerald green eyes stared right back at me and his face held a blank expression.
Fear ran through me as my intuition was right. A mother's worst fear has come to life.
He won't give me my baby and I'm not someone to cause a scene and he knows this. He admits to loving the characteristics I have as he too is like this.
I eyed the crowd of people and it's almost impossible to count the amount.
They were in these surroundings but seemed so far away. They softly whispered words to each other, having beverages issued by servers and a buffet out in different corners of the huge hall. Few were seated and others stood, yet they kept their distance and looked at me a few times.
While I'm suffocating by the space between my child and myself. I'm slowly losing myself every second as I sit here.
Before me, a server placed a bottle of water to my left, and the man who introduced himself as André's lawyer put two fancy pens next to my hand.
"Please place your name and signature on the attendance list." He puts the big thick book before me and points at the very top across from André's.
Below that are many names and signatures of probably these very people here.
My hand trembled as I took up the pen but paused.
"Attendance for what?" I inquired and he smiled.
"For being here to experience something new." That was all he said.
"I'm not selling my soul, so what am I signing my attendance for?" I demanded, glaring at him.
His eyes connected with André's before he took a few steps away.
The hand I felt on my shoulders a minute later was Robyn's.
"My little brother is one of the most powerful men in his very room, even though he's just an infant." She smiles happily. "This book is much like an attendance record that teachers have in school to see who's present or absent. That's why you're signing this for."
Sighing, I signed it and wrote my name. The book was taken and placed aside.
The next hour was spent signing documents and André never came over. Robyn and his lawyer explained everything.
For every contract I signed, André's signature was there as well. Right next to mine, or mine next to his.
A non-disclosure agreement, an MSA (Master service agreement), unconscionable, time and material, mutual agreements, licensing, and a few others.
The main two being of marriage and agreeing to have my son in my life based on what his future upholds.
The marriage certificate was signed but the next one was the marital agreement. I'll have access to an awful lot of money and it's up to me to do what I want with it. There are requirements, and marital rights that he expects of me and I have the option of choosing what I agree to or even adding my own opinions.
Luckily, he has my best interest at heart. Financially, physically, spiritually, and mentally. I think.
He's now my husband. Lawfully.
And to our son, I'm agreeing to be a mom as long as I don't get in his father's way of meddling in his destiny. Whatever the hell that means, I can only be the supportive mom. I'll have to speak with André otherwise and he can either agree or disagree.
The weight that got lifted off my shoulder when I signed it, seeing as it's the very last contract made me happy.
It was then that André brought him to me and kissed my forehead.
I just signed my life away.
"We're legally married." He whispered to me as I looked up at him.
It's like he just read my mind.
"You trapped me this time, Mister Pierce." I sighed.
"You're mine, Ms. Pierce." He chuckled and put his arms around me then lowered his mouth to my ear. "I promised to take you home after this short stop. We're heading to Jamaica tomorrow."
I cried just to hear those words. There was hope after all.
