"Can't the future just wait?" (Passing Through, Kaden Mackay). 」

After that wonderful afternoon, Talia had the fortune of experiencing yesterday, she hadn't expected it to continue on the next day. But she was in luck, as Max had decided to visit her again. She had gotten her step-brother to drive her over and now she was here.

Talia hadn't been doing anything important when she had come over since she didn't count making cupcakes as very important. Cupcakes that she wasn't supposed to eat but was planning to anyway. Now that Max was here, she had even more of an excuse.

They frosted the cupcakes together as they watched a musical on the television. When each one was topped with light blue goodness, they took one each. They tasted even better than they looked. Talia had to put them into the fridge to prevent both of them from eating any more.

She sat to Max's right. "You have something here," Max said, tapping to the corner of her mouth. Talia furrowed her eyebrows and mirrored Max's movements. "No, here." She corrected. They tried this tactic for far too long before Max ultimately gave up. She brought her fingers to Talia's lips and wiped away the frosting that she couldn't find.

Talia couldn't stop staring. She always knew Max was pretty, but right now, she looked even prettier. Her hair was framing her face in the best way. Her freckles enunciated her appearance and made her look ethereal. Her eyes were reflected brightly in the light in a way that made her look absolutely marvelous. She was just so perfect.

It made Talia want to be close to her.

Really close.

"What are you doing?" Max questioned.

Talia hadn't even realized that she was going through with her thoughts, moving much closer to Max than she was before. She was so close that their legs touched. But Max wasn't moving away and neither would Talia, so she might as well roll with it. "Can I hold your hand?" She asked. "It enhances the musical experience."

Max looked at her in a skeptical, comical way. "Really?"

"Yeah," Talia replied. "It gives you a special immunity to certain diseases every second we're holding hands."

Max laughed and rubbed away the frosting that was on her fingers. She held it out to Talia in an open invitation.

And of course, Talia took it. She wanted to be even closer than this, but she could be content with this.

They finished up the musical and after it an old cowboy movie began to come on. Not even five minutes into their quiet, comfortable atmosphere, the doorbell interrupted them.
