It's been about two days since I went to go visit Oscar at his house.
I went into Prices office after being at the shooting range with the guys to actually talk to him about Oscar and answer any questions. He kept the conversation to a bare minimum and only asked what he needed to, I assume knowing it wasn't easy for me to do.
Now we've all been anxiously waiting for Oscar to call or text us about our next meeting day.
Overall I've slowly gotten used to it here, the guys are pretty nice and like to have me involved. I would've never thought that I would end up creating any bond or friendship with them the day the house got raided.
Every once in a while I think about Val, anxious to see her again. Wondering where she could be, and what she would think about the situation I'm in. I know she'd tell me to do whatever kept me alive...sin miedo.
I still can't help the waves of anxiety that come and go, remembering how my life was before I got here. The sudden change in pace from being a criminal to helping catch them.
What does that make me?
I sigh and lift up my head, looking out at the sunset from my new favorite spot. I swing my legs from the edge of the building, closing my eyes and letting the breeze hit my face. I stay like that for a bit before speaking.
"What was your first impression of me?" I turn and ask König. He looks up from sketching on his post it's.
"Strong. You have a lot of fire inside of you." He says. He looks at me for a second before looking back down and continuing to sketch.
"Fire is dangerous." I say, letting out a small laugh. He looks up at me for a second, his pencil continuing to sketch.
"But it's needed for survival. You saw Valeria get shot and yet you continued to run. You knew what you had to do and did it." He says.
I look as his pen sketches on the paper. How do I tell him that it wasn't me who decided to run, but Valeria who was the one that gave me the courage to do it?
"It's not like I thought about it, it's called survival instinct for a reason. I just did it." I lie.
"Survival instinct or not you are safe and alive. Whatever it was, I'm glad that you are here." He says.
He stops sketching and looks at his drawing for a second before writing a small signature in the corner. He gently lifts up the post it from the stack, handing it to me.
On the paper is a very small sketch of me. It's not super detailed, but he was able to get my exact position that I'm sitting in right now. I look at my face, seeing my eyes closed like they were before we started talking.
"Wow König...this is amazing. Thank you." I tell him. He clicks his pen closed and puts it back in his pocket along with the post it's.
"Time to go back down. I'm sorry, mein feuer." He says, standing up. I give him a smile and stand up, holding on to his drawing and making sure the wind doesn't blow it away. I think about asking him what he just called me but don't bother.
We take the stairs back down and I go into my room, saying goodbye to him. I walk over to the fridge and place the post it next to the other drawings he's given me.
After I left Prices office a couple days ago I caught König outside sitting by himself. When I approached him I saw him sketching and I couldn't believe how good it was. I complimented him on it and he talked about how he likes to sketch on his free time during missions, helps him not overthink.
He gave me the sketch he was doing and has drawn a couple other little things for me, although this is the first time he's drawn me.
I walk over to the dresser and put on my pijamas. Once I'm done I go into the bathroom and quickly brush my teeth, heading to bed and making myself comfy under the blankets.
