I look over at Ghost, not sure what he's doing in my room. He stands near the kitchen, not moving a single muscle.

"What are you doing here?" I ask quietly, a confused look on my face.

"I uh...couldn't go back to sleep." He says.

"Ghost, it's the middle of the night, and I thought you weren't allowed in here alone." I say.

He looks at the door then looks back at me, taking a couple steps into the room and standing near the edge of my bed.

"I'm not." He says.

He doesn't move from the spot he's in, but stays awkwardly standing towards the edge of the bed. He puts his hands in his pockets and neither of us say a word for a couple seconds.

As much as I don't want him to get in trouble, I could use the company. I haven't had time alone to talk to him since we were on the roof, and I honestly want to learn more about him.

"Do you want to have a seat?" I ask, gesturing at the couch by the window.

He walks over and takes a seat on the couch. I sit down on the opposite side, crossing my arms over my chest. He leans back on the corner of the couch, spreading his legs apart a bit.

"I think based on our interactions I deserve to know a little more about you." I say.

"Interactions?" He asks, an amused tone in his voice.

"Don't act dumb with me, Ghost. You got away with it once, I'm not letting you get away with it again." I say.

I uncross my arms from my chest, pushing myself up on the couch and repositioning myself closer to him. He looks my body up and down slowly and I can feel the palms of my hands getting sweatier by the second.

"What do you want to know?" He asks.

I look out the window and tap a finger on my lips, thinking of a question to ask. Based on our small conversation on the roof he's not one for talking about the past, so I have to keep the questions surface level.

"Favorite color?" I ask. He tilts his head slightly, his eyes squinting.

"That's really your question?" He asks.

"Can you just answer please." I say, staring him down.

"Red. Dark red to be specific." He says.

I nod my head up and down slowly, thinking of my next question.

"Favorite season?" I ask.

"I think it should be my turn to ask a question don't you think?" He says, sitting up higher on the couch.

"I never agreed to that." I say quickly.

"Well, like you said considering our...interactions...I think I deserve to know things about you as well." He says.

I throw my head back and sigh, bringing it back up and looking at him once again.

"Fine, what's your question?" I say.

"What's your favorite animal?" He asks.

"You're kidding." I say, the tone of my voice flat.

"You're the one asking basic questions, thought I'd follow along." He says. I can see the corner of his eyes wrinkle from a smile under his mask.

"Cows, my turn. Favorite person to work with?" I ask.

He brings his hand up to his jaw, rubbing the fabric with his fingers as he thinks.

"Hm, that's a tough one. I'd have to say Soap. We've gone through a lot together and he's always optimistic, that's my favorite part about him. Don't tell him I said that though, it'll go to his head." He says.

I laugh at his comment, leaning my head against the back of the couch. I finally pay attention to what he's wearing, the outfit being very similar to what he was wearing at the gym a couple days ago.

I look at his hands and can feel butterflies in my stomach, thinking back to how they felt wrapped around my face. I take my bottom lip between my teeth and look back up at his face.

"You like what you see?" He asks. I think about avoiding his question but decide to play along.

"So what if I do?" I tease. I lift up my head and try my best to hide the smile creeping up on my face. "Seems like you've used up your question, my turn."

As I try to think of another question he sits up and moves closer to me, bringing his body towards mine. I slowly lean back the closer he gets and we end up laying down on the couch, him on top of me.

He takes one hand and places it on my ribcage, trailing it down slowly to my hips. He looks at his hand the whole time it moves down, almost like he's admiring every inch.

I look down as well, seeing how our perfectly our bodies fit together. I can feel goosebumps forming all over my body and I feel hotter by the second.

"I can't stay away from you."  He says softly, trailing his eye back up towards me.

I think back to my dream with Val, how she said those exact same words to me the night of the worst break up I've ever had. I look into his eyes but don't speak, not knowing what to say in return.

"Is that okay?" He asks.

I look at him, surprised by his question. Why would he ask that now after everything that's already happened between us?

My mouth opens and closes over and over again with no words coming out. It try my best to say yes, or any synonym for it but all I'm left with is nothing. We stare at each other for a while, and I can almost hear the seconds tick by.

He stands up suddenly, placing a hand behind my neck and another under my legs, sweeping me up into his arms. Instinctively I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling myself up higher.

He walks me over to the bed and gently places me down. We look at each other for a couple seconds, neither of us moving a single muscle. He reaches over and grabs the blanket, laying it over me.

"You should get some rest. We got a couple hours before the meeting with everyone." He says. He walks back to the couch and takes a seat, placing one arm over the back of the couch.

I turn my body so that my back is facing him and curl up under the sheets.

As much as I want to turn around and ask if something wrong I can't get the courage to do it. I just shut my eyes and force myself to sleep.

I wake up and automatically look over to the couch to see Ghost gone. I sigh and throw my body back down on the bed, closing my eyes.

I definitely fucked up last night.

I had enough time to say yes 20 times over and I still decided to sit there and say nothing. For some reason I thought it was a better idea to just lay there staring at him with my mouth open.

I rub my hands on my face, regretting my decisions. I sit up and notice a note at the end of the bed, picking it up and unfolding it.

Meeting at 10am. Training at gym after. -G

Did I piss him off that much that he left without saying goodbye?

I stare at the note, crumpling it up and throwing it on the floor. I get out of bed and decide to get ready for the meeting. No point of sitting in bed and sulking about it.
