"Me?" I ask
"Her?" Jesper says at the same time
I look at him as he looks at me
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask him, crossing my arms
"Don't look at me like that, it's not that I don't think you're capable it's just that I think you should take more then a few hours to recover from.... You know." I open my mouth to object but he carry's on, trying to cover his mistake "No! I don't mean that you're weak, I just think you need more time- not anymore time then the average person, just an.... Average amount of time?" He ends up questioning himself as he finishes his words
"Thanks... I think. But I'll be fine, it can't be that hard to kill someone" I say as I go to walk away with Inej
"You've not killed someone before?" He asks me
"No. Never had a reason to" I say

Jespers POV:
I can tell she's lying from the way she's looking anywhere but my face.
Inej looks between the two of us before speaking
"Lori why don't you go wait inside the crow club for me and we will discuss the..... details" She offers and Lori looks between Inej and I and then shrugs and begins to walk off
"I could use a drink" she mutters before she's out of sight.
The second she enters the club, across the street, Inej hits my arm
"Aw! That's classed as a felony in some places you know" I say as she rolls her eyes " I could get you arrested-"
"Are you stupid?!" She starts as I grow confused
"What?"
"That whole 'you need more time uhh- I don't mean you're weak etc etc' ?!" She glares at me
"What?" I say again, still not understanding
"Jesper, you clueless idiot!" She calls out and we get a few glances in our direction "you like her!" She finishes in a hushed shout
I open and close my mouth while scoffing "first of all" I say lifting my finger "i am not an idiot"
"Well you acted like one back there" she mutters
"Rude! Annnnndddd for your information I am not 'in love' with her, we are just friends, even though I think Kaz would have my head if I said we were even friends" I say, making air quotations as I scoff
I look back at her to find her smiling and looking triumphant
"What...?" I ask cautiously
"I didn't say you loved her.... I asked you if you liked her" she says "didn't realise it was that serious already" she says, walking off into the club before I can argue
I sigh, crossing my arms angrily.
How dare she assume that Lorelei and I- we- NO! never.
I glance through the open door of the club and I see her and Inej discussing the plan.
I watch as Lori laughs and clinks her glass with Inej, her hair falling from her shoulder onto her face. She brushes it away.
God Jesper pull yourself together she's just a girl!
You don't like her. You can't.
You have Inej and that's enough.
I watch as she and Inej talk to the bar tender and I feel my chest ache.
God Jesper.....
You really do like her.
