The ride is quite until Jesper decides to open his mouth. Nothing ever stays quite when Jespers about.
Suddenly, before he gets to talk the carriage stops and I glance out the window. We're here.
The others get out before I hop down the stairs and join them.
"A shame we didn't get her" Jesper says
We all sigh
"A shame is that what you think this is?!" Kaz asks
"Here we go again" I say as I walk closer to Inej "honestly when will he learn not to say stupid things?"
We both laugh before something falls to the floor at our feet.
The lock- it's the lock off the carriage box at the back.
I ready myself just as the lid opens and Jesper places his hand on his gun.
Out of the box comes a face... a very familiar face.
The sun summoner.
"I don't want any trouble" she says as she realises that we are standing in the way of her escape plan
"And neither do we" Kaz says
"Then it's settled- I will be on my way then" she goes to walk away after jumping out of the box before Kazs cane sticks out and stops her
"I don't think so" he remarks.
Suddenly she does the unexpected as she flashes light in our eyes. Inej manages to cover her face unlike the rest of us who are stunned and blinded by the light.
I don't know what happened because when I open my eyes the girl is gone
"Where did she go?!" Kaz asks Inej
"I don't know" she clearly lies "she was here and then she wasn't" she says
Kaz let's out a noise that I can only describe as what I assume a little boy having a temper tantrum would make as he huffs. I'm surprised he didn't start kicking the ground where we stud if I'm being honest.
"Well we'd better find her- there's 1 million on her head"
And that's it. Then we're off following his lead through the town.
I go to follow after him when Jesper grabs my wrist.
I look back at him as he smiles and interlocks our hands before continuing running to catch up with the others.
