The green fields on each side of the road makes my heart warm. The sunlight shines through the sky and the light makes everything more green, more beautiful.
Sitting in the back seat of the car, I rest my face out of the window. I inhale the smell of fresh air and nature. The strong wind collides with my face, sending my hair back in the air. I close my eyes and let the feeling sink in.
I know what I'm doing is pretty cringe, pretty main character thing but I can't help but feel excited whenever the warm and cold air hits my face.
My father drives the car as my mother sits on the passenger seat. They talk with each other laughing and talking. The soft music plays as both of them enjoy the 90s music.
I am the only child and our family is small. But we are happy with all we have. We go on small road trips occasionally. However, this time my father seemed to be busy with work but due to my stubbornness, he had to work overtime for a few days just to take us on this trip.
My father was a man in his 50s. He was tall, tanned and had brown hair. His light brown eyes shine bright and the lightly visible wrinkles that has started appearing on his handsome face was a charm for him. Every time he laughed, his lips would go in square, that I had inherited from him.
Even with the wrinkles, he looked handsome. He has always loved me and always fulfilled my wishes and needs. I have never seen a hard time thanks to him. Even tho, he was a worker in a company, we had everything we needed. Understanding, love and support for each other.
"Hey, pal. Listen to this one. Your mom loved this one back in our high school days." My dad says over the music and I smile at him listening to the old music that was not even my type.
"Really?" I smile brightly moving my face away from the window and closing it afterwards.
"Totally." He laughs. "I would sing this for her and she would smile." He says chuckling, remembering the old days. My mom and dad met in high school and have loved each other ever since.I have listened to many of their sweet stories of how they used to sneak from their houses just to meet each other or how they would give each other gifts for simple things.
My father would sometimes wait outside of the school for my mother. He tells that she loved it but my mother says that she found it annoying. She always said that with a soft and warm smile.
It was just so beautiful what they had.
"Oh my god, stop honey." My mother chuckles and blushes.
My mother was in her mid 40s. She had fair skin and was the height where her head reached my father's shoulders. She had medium, slightly curly hair and her eyes were dark brown.
She comes off like a cold and very mature woman but deep down, she is just a very shy and sweet person.
"What?" My dad laughs and I just giggle like a baby loving the feeling how my parents act with each other. Even after years, their love stays pure and genuine.
Thanks to their love, I never felt scared to come out to them. I remember I wasted not a single day to tell them I was gay when I started to have crush on one of my classmates, a guy.
I sometimes find myself wondering how I would have reacted to it if I had different parents. Would I have been able to come out this easily? No. I don't think so.
I'm so grateful to have them as my parents.
My mom shakes her head when my father starts singing the lyrics of the song. He gives few glances to my mom in between. She just smiles and blushes lightly. I follow my dad, trying to sing the lyrics, ending up with horrible words mumbling gibberish.
