Ares Silvermane

I walk to the training ground with a tired body. I have done nothing yet and I'm all exhausted. All thanks to that pathetic human.

Last night, I couldn't get a single minute of sleep, shifting and throwing my body in every angle to get the sleep but my mind had other plans. The day my parents were murdered repeating in my head and the guilt of not being able to save them creeping up to me.

"I hope someone takes your parents away like you did mine."
His words repeated in my mind like a tape, not giving me a break for a single second.

I remember when my parents had asked me to join them for the dinner they were invited to but I had declined because of the plans I had with my friends.
That night, I was out with my friends, Max, Alex and Bryan drinking and dancing in a bar.

It was after that when I received a call from Adrien. "Ares, you need to hurry up to the west coast, your parents. They are stabbed and their heartbeats are low. They won't make it." His shattered voice rang in my head, making the loud music blur. It took me a good minute to process what I had just heard.

"What?" I whispered, my throat tightening as my vision started to get blurry. "Hurry." Was the last words I heard before running out of the bar and sitting in my car. Max, Alex and Bryan came after me, running in their wolves forms. The drive of 20 minutes was done in 10 minutes, as the car screeched on the roads. My mind was filled with too many thoughts, my heart pounded in my chest as sweat broke down on my forehead.

"Mom, dad." I looked at them as they lied on the ground, too lifeless, barely breathing. Tears gushed down my face as I kneeled next to them and watched them breathe their last breaths. Adrien stood behind with others mourning silently for my parents. "Ares, my son." Mom breathed out, using all her energy as blood poured out of her chest. Tears welled up in her eyes before they slowly began to roll down and dissolve into the soil beneath her. "I love you." She whispered, smiling sadly before coughing. "You..are my strong son." Dad said, his so confident voice now sounding so broken and tired.

I nodded, sobbing as I held onto their hands, holding each in my hands.

Maybe, if I had gone with them, things might have been different. My parents might have been here, next to me advising me about that human. Advising me through so much more and laughing or scolding me for the things I did.

I pant, tears welling up in my eyes as I walk to the training ground, the memories of that night bringing a terrible pain in me.

"Breathe." I tell myself, panting as I take a support of a tree next to me. I take in a deep breath, closing my eyes before exhaling it shakily. "Pull yourself together."

"Pair up everybody. Today we are going to do some start up with one vs one." I look at the fifty people who stand in front of me. They all immediately go to the pairs that I have already assigned them to. "Three minutes and one of y'all should be pinning the other to the ground." I order before staring at Adrien who was my pair.

"Thirty seconds for me." I grin as I look at Adrien who has an excited smile plastered on his face. "We'll see about that." He points and launches himself at me, aiming for my neck. I dodge him, ducking before attacking his waist and wrapping my arms around it from beneath.

"Today is not your day." I mutter before twisting him and picking him up in the air, then throwing him at the ground. Before he can touch the ground, he kicks my leg making me stumble and falling on the ground on my back. Adrien lands a few inches away from me before standing up. I look at him as he stands above me. I watch him as he drops to attack me and roll over, hitting my elbow on his spine. He falls with a thud on his stomach and I take the opportunity to tackle him, my hands pushing his head against the ground. He taps the ground three times making me laugh.
