A few days have passed and the cuts on Desti’s arm have healed. The octoling woke up in her bed to a loud noise coming from the living room and muttered, “Ugh. What time is it?” She grabbed her phone and pressed the power button to see that the time was 4:13 AM. “Four in the- fuck!” She rolled out of bed and went into the living room wearing a tank top and pants that she bought only to see Sam sitting on the couch playing a game on the TV. She walked over to the front of the couch and sat down on it.

After a few minutes, Sam paused his game and looked over at Desti. “Did I wake you up?”

“Mhmm,” Desti replied.

“What time is it?”

“Let's see.” Desti looked at her phone's screen. “It's uh, four forty-five in the morning.”

“Sorry, I'll turn my game off now so you can go back to bed.”

“Eh, why bother? I'm already awake.”

“Okay.” Sam resumed his game as Desti watched. Out of the corner of his eye he could see her left hand sitting on the cushion in between them. When he reached a cutscene in the game, he removed his right hand from the controller and slowly rested it down on top of hers. Desti looked over at their hands and quickly turned away while blushing. She looked back over at him and saw that he was staring at her.

“What?” Desti asked nervously.

“You look beautiful when you blush,” Sam replied, causing Desti to blush even more. He inched closer to her until he was right next to her.

Desti quickly stood up. “I uh, have to use the bathroom real quick.” She made her way to the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She looked in the mirror and saw that her cheeks were bright red. “I shouldn't be having these feelings for him. They feel so wrong, but so right at the same time. Cod I want him insi- No! I need to control myself before I do something stupid. I shouldn't be thinking these things. Fuck Ben, what do I do?” She stared into the mirror, hoping that her reflection would turn into that of her dead boyfriend, but it never happened. “Well what help you've been. Cod it was these feelings that got me into trouble with Stacy. Ugh… I'm glad I don't have to deal with her anymore. I already have good relations with Meggy, I don't need them to be ruined because of these feelings. Ugh. What do I do?!”

Desti left the bathroom and approached the front door. “I'm gonna go out for a walk,” she told Sam.

“Cool. I'll go with you I guess.”

“No. I mean I would love to have you join me, but I just need to clear my head.”

“Oh, okay. I'll see you when you return then.”

Desti walked out the door and made her way through Inkopolis as the sun started to rise above the horizon. As she walked, she heard what sounded like footsteps running through an alleyway. Having peaked her interest, she decided to investigate what was going on. She traveled through the alleyway, following the sound of the footsteps until she reached a t-junction in the path. She listened carefully when she heard a blood-curdling scream come from the left path, so she ran in that direction. She followed the path until she came to a dead end. “I could've sworn that scream came from this direction,” Desti said as she looked around.

“Oh but it did.”

Desti turned around and saw Stacy standing in front of her along with many octotroopers.

“S-Stacy? I-It's been a while. W-What happened to y-your octoling army?”

“I got demoted, you nitwit,” Stacy scoffed, “and it's all thanks to you and your stupid ass resistance! These cretins are like children, they can never hit their target, unlike my old army. Using ink instead of live rounds, what fun is that?”

“Awww, sad that your troops can't kill anyone now?”

“Oh just you wait, because once I turn you in along with all of the other traitorous octoslobs, I will be leading the grand octarian army against these squid freaks!”

“Then why don't you just get it over with and kill me now?!”

“Hmph. I would very much like to do that, but DJ Octavio gave me strict orders not to do so. Then again, I usually do my own thing.” Stacy reached over her shoulder and unsheathed a katana from her back. “This'll definitely make killing you much more fun.” Stacy charged towards her sister with the katana ready and swung it. Desti turned into an octopus to avoid the deadly blade and appeared behind the octotroopers. Stacy turned around to look at the army. “What are you fucking waiting for, you idiots?! She's right behind you! Get her!”

The octotroopers slowly turned around and started firing balls of ink at Desti as she ran down the alleyway. Stacy approached an octotrooper as it spoke in a garbled tone and used her katana to kill it.

Desti ran through the alleyway and instead of running in the direction she came from, she took the other path. She exited the alleyway near the training yard and decided to hide there. She ran through the area and pressed her back against a wall. “I think I lost them.” She slid down the wall until she was in the sitting position and buried her face into her knees.

“Well well well, look at what we have here.”

“Huh?” Desti looked up and saw Team Killer Ink surrounding her. “Oh carp…”

“Trying to spy on us training now are you?” Claire asked. “Well now we don't take kindly to you octopunks. Especially those of you that spy on others.”

“But I wasn't spying, I was just-”

“Riiiiight. Well we're going to give you a taste of what we do to garbage like you. Hand me the knife.”

One of Claire’s teammates handed her a sharp knife while the other two forced Desti to the ground and held her arms to keep her in place. Claire got on top of Desti, pinning the octoling’s body to the ground and pressed the knife into her arm. Desti screamed as Claire carved letters into her skin. Once she was finished with her handy work, she set down the knife and pulled out a small bottle of salt. “Prepare for a whole world of pain.” She opened the bottle and started to pour the salt onto the cuts, causing Desti to scream even more. As soon as the bottle was empty, Claire got off of Desti and gave her a swift kick to the stomach. “C’mon, let's get the fuck outta here before someone catches us.” Claire and her team left the training yard, leaving Desti lying alone on the ground with the word “octotrash” carved into her left arm.

Back at Meggy and Sam’s home, Meggy walked into the living room after seeing that Desti wasn't in her room. “Hey Sam?”

“Yes sis?” Sam asked.

“Desti in the bathroom or something?”

“No actually she went out for a walk a while ago.”

“Oh. How long has she been gone?”

“She's been gone for quite a while,” Sam replied while standing up. “We should probably go find her.”

“I'll try calling her first.” Meggy pulled out her phone and tried calling Desti. Coming from Desti’s room, they could hear a familiar ringtone.

Sam went into her room and came back out with Desti's phone. “I don't think she's going to answer.”

“No shit Sherlock. We might as well go find her.”

Sam and Meggy left their home to find Desti. They searched all over Inkopolis for many hours in search of their friend. Their search came to an end once they reached the training yard and saw a hooded figure standing over her unconscious body.

“Hey! Get away from her!” Sam yelled at the figure while running towards Desti with his sister. The figure looked at them and removed her hood, revealing herself to be an octoling.
