(Y/N'S POV), three days later

"Are you excited?" Alya asked as we sat on the trunk of her silver Prius, eating cherries. The car was parked outside of a small bar venue where Kitty Section would play in about an hour. Alya scrolled absentmindedly on her phone and let her leg swing off the side of the car.

"Very– Luka's singing lead!" I exclaimed for probably the 50th time.

"So I've heard." Alya rolled her eyes and laughed.

"What about you?"

"Of course I am! Girl, I love Kitty Section and you know it." She gushed. She was right, I did know it. Alya ran the first and biggest Kitty Section fanpage on instagram, and found every excuse to support our friends.

"What do you think they'll play?" I pondered, spitting out a cherry pit.

"Well, a little birdie told me they're doing some Origami Angel, whatever that is." Alya wiggled her eyebrows excitedly.

"No shit, really!? I was obsessed with them back in like 2017." I threw a cherry stem somewhere to my right. "And their new album is great!"

"Well at least you know of them." She shrugged, going back to her phone. "Nino just texted the group chat asking if we all wanted to go to the mall on Saturday, you up for it?"

"Always." Just then, my phone started to ring. I picked it up and before I could say anything, Luka's voice came through.

"Could you and Alya come on in and help out with setup? Things are taking longer than usual."

"Yep, be there in a sec." I confirmed, motioning to Alya to pack it up.

"You're the best, thanks."

"Oh, I know. Bye bye blueberry boy." I hung up the phone and grabbed my bag.

"What's up?" Alya asked as we walked toward the doors.

"I think they just need some help with setup. Not sure what that means exactly but we'll find out I guess." I shrugged, pushing open the double doors. Ivan and Adrien stood up on stage, messing around with some cords.

"Alya, Y/N, welcome!" Adrien called from the stage.

"Luka's in back." Ivan jerked his thumb towards the back of the stage, pointing us to the dressing rooms.

"Thanks guys!" Alya chirped as we passed them to get to the back doors. I knocked on the dressing room but didn't wait for an answer before opening the door.

I put my hand over my eyes and made everyone very aware of my presence. "Everyone decent? I'm coming in!" I felt a hand on mine, pulling it away from my face. I opened my eyes to see Luka staring back at me with a smile.

"Yeah, yeah. Come on in, Jules and I need your help."

"Me too?" Alya called from behind.

"Yes please!" Luka dragged her inside as well, closing the door. Luka and Juleka were all dressed up for the show. Well, as dressed up as one can get for a concert. Luka wore a nice blue suit jacket with a plain white shirt and black dress pants, but I knew he would have the jacket off by the end of the show. Juleka was wearing a black lacy dress that made her look like a vampire queen with some fishnet tights. Her makeup was done already, simple but funky with some hints of purple.

"So, what exactly are we here for?" Alya turned to the siblings and placed her hands on her hips.

"Jules wants to try something different with her hair, and I'm shit at eyeliner." Luka summed up.

"That second part is so not true." I rolled my eyes. Luka sat down in a chair and grinned at me.

"Maybe, but you can do way cooler things with it than I can." He shrugged and handed me the eyeliner.

"I think he just wants an excuse to have you stare at him." Juleka muttered from the other side of the room as she sat down in a makeup chair. We all froze and turned to her, surprised at the remark. Juleka didn't talk very much, and it was usually pretty inaudible anyway.

"You talk for that!?" Luka threw his hands up in mock frustration. "Typical." He laughed and threw a pillow from the couch over her way.

"You missed." Juleka shot back, quietly.

"Alright chatterbox, sit still." Alya turned Juleka's head towards the dressing room mirror. "What were you thinking?" She toyed with Juleka's layers. Luka cleared his throat from his spot in the chair over to my right. I turned to him and walked over. I bent down to his level and locked into his eyes with my own.

"Now what were you thinking?" I asked him.

"I dunno, you're the genius here." He responded, unhelpfully.

"Alright, close your eyes and I'll make some shit up for you."

"Aww how kind of you." He said with his eyes now closed.

"Okay okay I think I'm done." I straightened out and capped the liner. Luka whirled around towards the mirror and inspected my work. It wasn't anything super crazy, just a sharp wing and some random smudges.

"Job well done!" He stood up and put his arm around me and pulled me into his side, still looking in the mirror. He opened his mouth to say something else, but I already knew the question.

"Sparkles?" I beat him to it and grabbed the sparkly substance from the counter, because I also already knew the answer.

"You know it!" He smiled and turned to me expectantly. I smeared some glitter under his eyes with no particular method to my madness. As I put one last bit of glitter onto his cheek, I noticed him looking straight at me. His gaze softened and I lost track of what I was doing. Suddenly, Alya cleared her throat from the left side of the room, and I snapped back to reality.

"Alright, now I'm done." I twisted the top back on the glitter and placed it back on the counter. Alya had finished Juleka's hair and the two of them were watching Luka and I. Embarrassed, I looked back to Luka and noticed he was still staring my way. My sudden movement seemed to snap him out of it and he coughed.

"Jules, you look great!" Luka may have moved on hastily, but he wasn't lying. Juleka looked amazing with her hair up in space buns and out of her face for like the first time ever.

"That's what I was telling her!" Alya beamed, clearly proud of her work. Juleka shrunk in her chair at all the attention and I shot her a small smile, not wanting to make her even more uncomfortable.

Suddenly, Adrien and Ivan burst into the room, blasting The Final Countdown without a care in the world. The excitement of the concert in a few minutes was clearly affecting them, because they began doing an incredibly improvised interpretive dance as the beginning of the song gradually picked up in energy. Luka joined in as the lyrics started, getting down on his knees and lip-syncing along. The three of them looked like absolute dorks. Luka played air guitar as the solo began, but abandoned his part halfway through. He stood up and grabbed my hand, yanking me towards him in a twirl move before going right back to his air guitar. Alya gave me a look I couldn't quite figure out and Juleka shook her head in pure embarrassment.

As the song came to a close, we could hear the roar of the crowd outside contrasting against the silence in the dressing room.

"Alright Y/N, let's head out so we don't miss anything." Alya jerked her thumb over her shoulder and towards the door.

"Alright, alright." I stood up and brushed off my jeans. "Good luck! You're gonna kill it tonight." I looked around to all of Kitty Section, lingering on Luka so he would know I meant him specifically. He shot me a small smile, and I thought-- for just a split second as the door swung closed-- is Luka Couffaine nervous?
