Ice Skating and Massive Mistakes Chapter
"Is Sarah coming to ice skating?" She asked.
"To see us play hockey with us?" I ask.
"Yeah!"
I chuckle. "She can't even ice skate."
"So she could learn. Or watch."
I would be nervous out of my mind. Serenity was 10 about to be 11 and loved hockey. I grew up on hockey. But I wasn't that good. If Sarah would watch, I would be so nervous not to fuck up. But for my little sister, I had to. Never in my life did she get a long with a girl who I had a crush on. I never had an actual girlfriend in my life. It didn't feel right.
There was this girl named Sonya. She played hockey. But she hated me. She went to Grays, the all girl school Sarah went to as well. I went to Knievere, an all boys school. Sarah said she didn't do much but basketball, and her later years tried her best to blend in the crowd and become unnoticeable.
She knew Sonya. I had a huge crush on her. Until one of my best friends who Serenity and I play hockey with, Brandon, got to her before I did. Now, they date still, have a long established relationship. I mean good for them. I don't regret the hesitation.
Sarah told me Sonya was prom queen and Brandon was prom king. I asked her if she had a date. She said no. I wanted to run back in time to ask her out, and I could've.
I saw a couple of Sarah's games with my friends. She was really good. She seemed confident but she told me she wasn't. I guess she was trying to fit in.
Even despite her trying to fit in, she never did. But she looked way more "fit in," and insecure. Maybe she felt inferior to the other girls. But she spoke on the court.Keith did not go to the local schools we did and lives in the dorms. Rose recently moved away from her hometown. Still, Keith and I bonded over video games, hockey, and comics. Our interests lined up. Keith and Rose met a couple years ago and instantly hit it off. I'm guessing Sarah met Rose a year ago, around when Keith and Rose started dating.
Besides the point, I sighed. "Fine."
"Yay!"

Serenity was in the car as I parked near Sarah's house. Sometimes, I was to concerned for the girl because of what she went through. And at first, it scared me. But I treated her like a normal person and gave her the attention she most enjoyed. Little flirts here and there that would make her blush. Then, I would chuckle and grin.
I could imagine me and her skating together. Dancing. Me looking at her, her smiling and giggling. Having her hold my hand. Gosh, I was being a sucker. Imagining everything in my head.
"You are nervous!" Serenity laughs.
"For what?" I asked.
"Because you know she can't go ice skating, and you will have to teach her ice skating. That's why we are showing up 2 hours before everyone else! So you can hold her hand and treat her how to ice skate."
"What are you? A matchmaker? Don't you got other girl friends that you are suppose to be matchmaker for?" I ask.
"Maybe," She shyly laughs, "But I've never seen my brother look at a girl the way you look at her. And that's including me."
I elbow her. "There we go again a 10 year old trying to tease me."
"I'm about to be 11!" She says loudly, "Anyway, you didn't look at Sonya the same way. And you really liked her-"
Sarah opens the front passenger door. "Really liked who? Derrick liking somebody?"
I blushed.
"Sonya! He really liked Sonya Meyers, did you know her?"
