The atmosphere embraced its thickness as the three figures sat in a triangular shape on the wooden floor, after pushing the glass coffee table to the corner of the room to make space for them to sit down at.
Jake's eyes roamed around the well-lit living room, as he stayed unsure of where to look. Just pretending he had never seen the white marble vase that was kept as a decoration over the small table beside the entrance door - that he had picked to buy for the house with Iseul - would be a good idea for him.
While the two girls that were letting their insides cripple because of the anxiety that grew passing seconds only made eye contact with each other once in a while, growing even more worried after seeing the shaking pupils of the other.
Jake allowed himself to open his mouth in hopes of getting at least a few words that would probably get him closer to an answer as to why they were gathered awkwardly.
"So," The two pairs of eyes fell upon him, as he contemplated what words to let out next. "Why are we gathered as if one of us is dying soon?"
The male received a not-so-light punch on his arm by Eunjoo that sat on his left, while Iseul snickered at the hit. He let out a small yelp, a frown taking over his face as he held the attacked area on his arm.
"Don't say stuff like that. No one's dying."
"I know, but we usually don't meet like this." He answered as the grip on his arm loosened.
"Yeah, I just wanted to meet you and stuff."
Eunjoo let out a sigh at her best friend's words, bringing her palms to her face as she let out a groan from the stress that took her in for the past few days.
"Cut the facade." She says before dropping her hands back down and looking straight up at the female, then turning to her lover that sat beside her. "Jake, listen up, I'll come straight to the point."
She shifted herself on her seat, crossing her legs and keeping her hands over her lap as she took a deep breath in. Jake's eyes hovered upon hers anxiously, trying to figure just what could have been so urgent, that the girls had called him without any excuse.
"See, you know how my parents are kind of— a lot strict?"
He nodded.
"Well, they…" A loss of words for her arrived, as she tried to find the right choice of words to use in the sensitive discussion. It was no-lie that she was unsure of what to say, but despite all that, she also knew that only she could find the right words as well. "Called me back?"
Her statement came out as more of a question than an announcement, as the hard work she had done for finding the words sinked down in just three words, and a questioning tone.
"What?"
"Yeah, just, called me back."
Jake's lips were now pursed, as his eye didn't leave hers. The memories the two had made together flooded back in his mind, while the scenario of him sending her off, too, showed itself in the back of his mind. When the two went on dates and smiled and laughed together. All that was flooding back to him, which just made his chest tighten because of the emotions all over again.
"But, Eun, you can't—" The tears that gathered in his throat made his voice thicker, which cut him off by itself. He gulped the emotions down, the thick feeling washed away by the tears now taking place in his eyes. They threatened to fall, but he was quick in wiping the droplets away.
"I don't want to either, but, I can't say no…"
Her voice trailed off to a lower tone as her sentence approached the end, while tears started to form in her eyes after looking at the tears falling out of her boyfriend's eyes.
"Guys," Iseul spoke up in a relatively low voice, trying to gather the attention without sounding too insensitive. "Please don't cry… It's her last day, don't you want to leave with a smile rather than swollen eyes?"
Jake sniffed as he let his head drop down, eyeing his fingers fiddling over his lap before he started to let out a hesitant nod to Iseul's question. Of course, he wanted to send off his lover with a smile instead of red, puffy eyes because of crying, but was he the one to blame?
He looked up to find Eunjoo staring back at him with a frown resting over her face, her hand reaching for his connected hands, taking one of them in her own in an instance, absorbing the warmth that reached her once she was in contact with the male.
"Yeah, no crying. Just… fun." Jake nodded once more at his own words, "Yeah, fun."
"Okay, let's do what she wants to, should we?" Iseul spoke up once again, clasping her hands together in an attempt to ease the tension that engulfed in the room.

"She's just stupid. How can she not see the most obvious red flags known to humankind?"
The little rant that Jake let out made the two girls let out a small laugh, as they munched over the popcorn they had resting in the glass bowl resting on their laps.
"She surely is. Better stay safe than to be like her." Eunjoo pointed at the T.V. screen as she threw the two pieces in her mouth, catching both at once before taking the plastic cup in her hands, sipping over from the white paper straw.
"Definitely. I would never forgive a man if he decided it would be a great idea to trap me in his house so I could be protected. That's some fanfiction kind of shit." Iseul remarked.
The two hummed in agreement, keeping their focus on the big screen as they ate to their heart's content.
(Iseul's pov)
The time hadn't ticked longer than fourty-five minutes since I started to feel a little more fuller than I usually do, the over-fullness taking a toll over my head as well, making me feel slightly dizzy whenever I changed focus, or looked at the dishes kept in front of us.
I leaned back on the couch, trying my best to keep myself concentrated on the movie playing than the sensation of sickness growing inside of me each passing second. I didn't want to ruin the mood that took so long to be better. Slight sickness wasn't worth it.
The smell of the chicken pizza filled up my nose, making my throat feel heavier, and a feeling of puke filling me up, reaching over to my mouth.
I put my palm over my closed mouth, as I hurriedly got up from my seat and ran to the kitchen to let all of the trouble out.
I ignored the pain that grew in my pinky toe because of stubbing it by the kitchen counter, having no choice but to limp over to the sink while holding onto the white counter that caused the pain.
The voices of Eunjoo and Jake ringed through the house while I bent over, throwing up by the kitchen sink. I shut my eyes tight because of the burning sensation in my throat. Feeling my loose hair being pulled back into a ponytail, I opened my eyes to find a pool of red— blood in the sink. My eyes widened upon the sight, before I felt another wave of dizziness washing over me.
I stood up straight, keeping myself balanced with the help of the counter, feeling too weak to stand up on my own. I sucked my breath in as I looked down at the red stains pasted on the metal inside the sink.
"I— what?" Eunjoo mumbled under her breath, as I turned to my left, shrugging lightly after making eye contact with the said female.
I tried to stand up straight, as Jake's hand supported me by my shoulders, while Eunjoo held my waist.
"You need to get checked." Jake said.
I part my lips to speak up, "Yeah, no shit."
