Copper Nine.
It was a nice little town.
Quiet, if a little boring as well.
Years and years ago, it had once been a small camp filled with miners hired by lords or dukes looking for valuable stones or metal to sell. It took countless nights and years of digging, but all the miners could find was copper in large amounts, as did the other eight camps that were hired.
Though no rare metal or stone was found, people quickly settled down in the area, slowly building up from a camp to a hamlet to a thriving village into the town it was today. It had a thriving population, goods to sell and trade, livestock to keep them alive, and a manageable social class with a Count ruling over them...
Or. It used to have a Count.
The last Count that lived in Copper Nine had died well over two centuries ago when he and his whole family were murdered in cold blood.
The worst part about it was that none of them died by mortal hands.
It had been the work of creatures of the supernatural. Beings of darkness and monsters that prowled the night.
Some say that the Count's wife had foolishly welcomed them in. Others say that they found a weak spot in the castle and ambushed everyone inside. There was also a famous rumor that the Count had wrongfully executed a young girl and her mother, deep in grief, cursed him and his family to die.
No one knew for certain which was true, but one thing was clear.
The night the Count and his family died, Copper Nine was cursed to suffer for many years to come.

"My lady?" A young maid knocked on the door. She waited a moment before knocking again. "Lady Uzi? Are you awake? Breakfast is ready and your food is getting cold."
The maid waited a few seconds. When there was still no reply, she opened the door and peeked inside. When she couldn't find the room's owner, her mind flung to the worst possible scenarios till her gaze went up and she let out a shrill scream. "MY LADY!"
Up sitting the rafters was the missing Uzi, calmly reading a book with her back against the beam while kicking one leg that hung down lazily. She was a young woman, in her late teens, with fair pale skin and long dark hair that flowed past her shoulders to her hips. She didn't look up when the maid screamed, nor did she react as the poor woman below her panicked.
"My lady, please! Get down from there! It's dangerous!"
"Gee, really? I hadn't noticed." Uzi said with a deadpan expression, turning the page in the book.
"My lady, I beg of you! Come down from there before you get hurt!"
"Mmm, nah. I like it up here."
"Lady Uzi! I beg of you that you must get down from there before you fall!"
Uzi lazily kicked her leg, continuing to ignore the maid's increasing hysteria.
The maid paced about, waving her hands frantically as her mind raced with worry. "Oh my. Oh my. Oh my oh my oh my oh my oh-"
"What seems to be the problem here?"
The maid let out a small yelp, turning around to face another maid standing in the doorway. She was an older woman who had her hair tied up neatly, with a finer-looking outfit than the younger maid, with a face that didn't show much expression beside boredom and slight irritation.
