The story is not mine and nor was it written by me. It belong to NightingaleWitch7 on ao3. I just wanted to share the story they wrote

His head hurt.

That was nothing new to N.

Pain was almost a daily thing for him when he failed at hunts or did something J did not approve of, so he wasn’t surprised he woke up to his head pounding like a hammer to his skull.

He might be undead, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t immune to pain.

What he was surprised about was when he opened his eyes and found himself standing… somewhere, with someone he didn’t recognize.

And that wasn’t because his eyesight is super blurry! … okay it was probably because his sight was very blurry at the moment. Did he fly into a tree with his eyes closed again? It would explain why his head hurt.

Though it didn’t explain who this person was.

He couldn’t get a good look at them, but luckily his sense of smell still works! Fortunately, they smelled like a fellow vampire!

Unfortunately, they weren’t V or J.

“Are you a rogue?” He couldn’t help but blurt out without thinking.

“… what?”

“A rogue.” N repeated. “You know, a lone vampire. A clanless. Rogue.”

“… I… uh…” The new vampire, who he was assuming was a girl by the fresh flowery jasmine scent with a bit of citrus and a small tiny hint of vanilla mixed in that she had around her.

NOT THAT HE WAS SMELLING HER! It was just his sense of smell!

A-And her voice sounded like a girl too… yeah.

“Wait. You think I’m a vampire?” The new vampire questioned.

“Sure! I mean, you smell like one anyway.” There was an awkward pause between them. “N-NOT THAT I’M SMELLING YOU OR ANYTHING! I-It’s Just That I Can Smell That You’re A Vampire! Wait! No! That came out wrong! Your smell is just really strong! AHH! THAT’S EVEN WORSE!

He panicked. He wasn’t good with interacting with other vampires outside of J and V, and he hardly talked to either of them these nights!

“I… smell like a vampire? But I’m not–” The new vampire started before she suddenly went quiet.

“Not what?” N asked, curious of the new vampire’s words.

“N-Nothing!” The new vampire quickly said, moving something that he assumed was her arm back and forth. “Nothing. I uh. I-I need to go.”

N’s smile deflated. He had just met a new potential friend and she was already leaving? Awww. Well, he guessed he understood why she would go. She was an invader on the clan’s turf, and J didn’t like intruders on their hunting grounds. Plus, if she was a rogue, that meant she was clanless and probably meant bad news. But if she had a clan, then that would mean–

Ow!” N’s ears flicked upward, hearing the pain in the new vampire’s voice.

“What’s wrong?” He moved close, trying to lend a hand or see what the problem was.
