Aiden POV.
I woke up today earlier than usual, and as a result I was in the kitchen already ready for school by six am which was actually my usual wake up time. This wasn't the only difference from my usual lifestyle. When I woke up today, I felt quite pleased with myself, as if a hidden weight I didn't know was weighing on me had suddenly vanished. Such a feeling was a distinct contrast to the hollow feeling I contained deep within me all the other times that I woke up. For a moment I had let my mind wander off, contemplating why I felt so pleased, contemplating what exactly was different than usual.
But then as I had looked to my side, I had quickly understood.
The presence of my depressed brother in tears was nowhere to be found, gone with him was the atmosphere ridden with sorrow and pain from my room.
But despite this, all that was left there was emptiness.
I sighed, my breath caused ripples to form on the surface of the hot chocolate I allowed myself to indulge in.
I really loved hot chocolate, mainly because I really loved chocolate, but I only ever ate it in order to reward myself after I've accomplished something. My brother finally leaving my room was without a doubt an accomplishment on my part.
I came back home quite late last night due to having spent time playing games at the arcade with Raven, my brother at the time was nowhere to be found. As his own brother, I obviously would've been worried. But that would only be if I hadn't noticed that the message I left by his bedside before I left to arcade was gone as well.
I knew exactly where he had gone to and what he was doing.
I shifted my gaze from my cup of hot chocolate, ignoring the steam which danced as it ascended towards the ceiling. My gaze rested on the kitchen sink which I noticed was riddled with dirty dishes.
It became quite clear to me that before leaving, he had made it his goal to fill his stomach as much as possible in order to garner enough energy for the task I allocated to him.
I just wish he would clean up at least.
I sighed once again and took a sip of my hot chocolate, the heat from it slightly burnt my tongue as it coursed through my mouth and down into my throat.
"Ahh.... How troublesome." I muttered.
Despite the fact that I had woken up unnecessarily pleased with the current turn of events, it didn't take long for my mind to bring me back into the reality of the current situation.
If all things went as I had expected, then today was an important day.
Especially for the future of my plans.
I don't know whether Raven has seen through it yet, the events that are running amok behind the scenes.
For now I see no reason to act yet, so I will just ignore them.
Because they're currently working to my advantage instead.
But this was only in the case that my thought process and conclusions were the right ones.
Like every human being on the planet, I lacked omniscience. Due to this, I had to keep myself prepared at the very least for what I believed was to come.
But luckily, my brother was now awake.
With this, I could 100% be sure about whether or not the multitude of assumptions and conclusions I had made as predictions to the coming days were right or not.
I took another sip of my drink.
The moment the cup parted with my lips, the back door to the house was opened with a click which was followed by an eerie creak as the door was slowly pushed open.
