The Girl

I stepped into the classroom. A cursed routine. I felt eyes on me. People were staring. Not out of admiration, shock, disgust, or jealousy. But out of fear. I couldn't blame them. After all, I was the one who destroyed nearly half of the classroom just yesterday. I cringed at the thought of it. I clutched the books in my hand harder. It was a wonder I wasn't expelled.

The weight of their stares was the worst thing I had ever felt. I quickly took my seat at the back of the rundown classroom, ignoring the furtive glances and whispers that were surely about me. Even though each table could fit up to four people, I still sat alone.

Ms Kim (We call her Ms K) stepped into class with a bright smile on her face. She was my favourite teacher. Trailing behind her were two students who looked too old to be in this class. They looked around 16. Their hair was the same shade of golden blonde with equally stunning eyes. One of them had pale blue eyes that reminded me of the blue sky while the other had dark blue eyes that reminded me of an impending thunderstorm. I notice the two of them glance around the classroom, both of them holding their gaze towards me a little too long. I shrugged it off.

"We will have two new students joining us today. This is Leo," she gestured the the boy with pale blue eyes," and this is Zack." She smiled at the boy whose eyes were a darker shade of blue. Blue. The same colour as my eyes.

Ms K gestured at two seats somewhere in the middle. The two boys shared a knowing look.

"If you don't mind," Leo started to say.

"We want to sit there," Zack finished. He pointed to the back where I was sitting.

My eyes widened in shock. No one ever sat beside me. I was the weirdo. The freak. The one that was too smart to be true. The one that everyone agreed to shut out. The one who was just recently sent for test after test after test because the was unnatural.

"You can sit wherever you want," Ms K smiled. She seemed happy for me.

My classmates stared as the two boys took their seats on either side of me. Leo smiled, his eyes studying me. Zack just sat and stared ahead.

I tried my best to concentrate in class but it was rather distracting having someone that looked like they were about to kill you and the other one bombarding you with questions.

Leo was very curious to know everything about me. I blushed as his sky-blue eyes stared into mine. His questions were incessant, from my height and favourite colour to my daily routine and the worst thing of all-what happened yesterday. I hid my face when he asked about that. Of course, he knows about it. Everyone knows about it. That was probably why they sat beside me anyway. To embarrass me. To bully me. To find out my deepest darkest secrets and to torture me from the inside out until I curl up and hide in a corner and never show my face again. To be fair, it might just be my imagination. He seemed fairly nice for now.

Zack, however, did not say a word since he sat down beside me. All he did was stare.
