Jungkook wept silently, tears streaming down his face as he lay on the bed.
Bound by chains, he felt utterly pathetic and worthless. Memories of the traumatic event consumed his mind, leaving him unable to think of anything else. Escape seemed impossible, like a never-ending nightmare from which he couldn't awaken.
The vivid recollection of being kidnapped and imprisoned haunted him. Cut off from the outside world, he had encountered a girl named Lacey in the jail cell. Her beautiful pink hair stood out amidst the darkness. She had a cellphone that they could use to seek help, but they decided to wait for the right moment, hoping to involve the police and dismantle the entire gang, including their leader.
Both of them endured starvation, beatings, and taunts about their parents' supposed indifference. In their dire circumstances, they clung to the hope of rescue. Everything seemed to be going according to plan until one fateful day when everything fell apart. The memory of that event still felt surreal to Jungkook, causing his body to tremble with fear and regret.
Jungkook blamed himself for not taking action back then, feeling absurdly helpless. The desire to hit his head against something and cry out until he lost his voice consumed him. Even though there was a sound in the back of his mind telling him it wasn't his fault.
Jungkook had witnessed Lacey being raped and later murdered, disguised as suicide. He had recorded the entire ordeal on the cellphone, planning to provide the evidence to the police and bring the leader to justice. Lacey, being the president's daughter, deserved justice.
However, that day never came as the leader discovered Jungkook's knowledge of the scene. From then on, they relentlessly pursued him, pushing him to the brink of death and sexual assault. All Jungkook could do was run, enduring excruciating pain as his feet bled and his legs threatened to give out. But Jungkook needed to survive and then bring justice.
Death seemed preferable, but he also yearned to survive and bring justice to Lacey. The corrupt police force, driven by greed, made it seem impossible. That's why he had moved to Seoul, still using Lacey's phone, hoping to one day apprehend the man responsible even though he knew it wasn't happening so Jungkook shrugged that thought off mostly from his mind.
Ironically, Jungkook found himself kidnapped once again, this time being forced into marriage with the leader's son. It was an incredibly messed up situation.
Jungkook was at a loss for what to do. His mind had shut down, overwhelmed by despair.
Ky informed him that the wedding would take place over the weekend, causing Jungkook to sob loudly and painfully. He couldn't bear the thought of it. He would rather die than marry that despicable person who killed his parents to brutally in front of his eyes.
Jungkook couldn't give up either. Deep in his heart, he believed that Taehyung and his dear friends were searching for him. He couldn't abandon hope now, right? But how would they even find him? Jungkook himself didn't know where he was being held captive.
The absence of Lacey's cellphone, which could have been used to track him, was both a relief and a concern. It was likely left behind in his mansion, safely hidden away. But Ky knew about it, and if he informed his father about the incriminating video, it could spell disaster.
Jungkook couldn't allow that to happen. The video was the only proof that Lacey's death was not a suicide but a murder. It showcased her strength and fought against the perception of her weakness. She was Jungkook's source of strength, always encouraging him and enabling his survival.
Jungkook berated himself for not sharing this information with his parents and friends. Why had he confided in Ky? He needed to devise a plan to escape as quickly as possible.
