."Sir, your date has been planned on the rooftop. The arrangements are done. Please come," Taehyung said in a normal voice, masking the pain inside. He felt like dying or running away, hiding somewhere far from this hurtful situation.
Jungkook nodded slightly, his eyes lingering on Taehyung for a moment before moving to the woman in the room.
"Let's go," he said to Irene, his voice emotionless.
Irene smiled at Jungkook and followed him as they walked towards the rooftop.
Taehyung clenched his hands tightly, his eyes darkening as he watched Irene lightly touch Jungkook’s arm for support before leading him upstairs.
"Let's not go there; we'll only hurt ourselves more," Taehyung’s inner voice said.
"That's what I want," he replied to himself before following them up.
Irene stood on the other side of the table placed on the rooftop, elegantly arranged. She hoped her date would pull out the chair for her, as any gentleman would.
However, her smile faded when Jungkook blankly walked to the other side of the table and took his seat, ignoring her completely.
Her cheeks flushed light pink with embarrassment as she seated herself opposite Jungkook.
"How are you?" she asked, trying to sound cheerful.
"Fine," Jungkook replied, his doe eyes drifting to the man standing behind Irene, his back facing them.
"I know this news might be sudden for you. I’ve known we’d be getting married for years. I want this marriage to work; please try to give it a chance so we can build a home together," Irene said with determination.
Irene Lee had a strong personality. She knew what she wanted and how to get it. Despite her father and Jungkook's father setting up their marriage, she followed Jungkook’s every move.
She had never taken relationships seriously, only engaging in casual encounters and one-night stands. If anyone fell for her during these encounters, it took her only seconds to walk away.
As the CEO of her father’s company, her sole aim was to expand it, making it larger than any other company in Korea, even surpassing Jeon Enterprise.
And for that, She needs Jungkook in her palms. And she will take him, make him her toy for her success.
Jungkook looked at Irene before his eyes turned annoyed at her face.
"Kindly stop dreaming that you can make a home with me," he said, his voice dangerously low.
"What do you mean?" Irene asked, shocked. She had never heard Jungkook speak to her like this in front of his father.
"Exactly what you think I meant," Jungkook replied, his eyes shifting to Taehyung, who walked over with two wine bottles and glasses.
"Stop joking, alright! What’s your problem, Jungkook? And what’s wrong with your tone?" Irene demanded, her face reddening in anger as Jungkook continued to focus on his bodyguard rather than her.
Jungkook's doe eyes remained fixed on Taehyung, not blinking.
"I’m saying something, Jungkook! Goddamn, look at me!" Irene raised her voice, frustrated by Jungkook’s lack of attention.
Her hand flung out in anger, causing her wine glass to fall to the ground. Taehyung had just placed the glass for her.
"Damn you! Can’t even do your job properly?" Irene shouted at Taehyung.
