Author's POV

"A'Zhan was away from here to meet his friend. He was apparently met with an accident and Now everything is fine and now finally he is back home.." Mrs Xiao said to Mrs Yang, Yang Zi's mother. When Xiao Zhan entered inside with yang Zi, he saw it wasn't just Yang Zi who was present, but her parents was also there chatting with his parents. Xiao Zhan can feel a cold sweat creeping down his back and he can feel himself going numb.

"so much for newfound determination.." Xiao Zhan thought.

Xiao Zhan plasted a soft smile on his face and greeted them.

"Ah.. Zhan.. don't be a stranger.. come and sit with us... How are you..? Its been a long time since we met.. little Zi always talks about how much she misses you.." Mrs yang said in an affectionate tone.

Xiao Zhan smiled and sat beside her.

"i am very well mrs yang.."

"Aiyaa.. We are practically family. You can call me mother.." she said and to which Xiao Zhan smiled in reply.

"I guess.. let the kids talk.. They will get bored hanging out with us old folks.." Mrs. Xiao said and then looked at her son and continued..

"A'Zhan.. come on.. you guys can go ahead and chat.. you guys are meeting after a while afterall.." She smiled fondly at her son. Xiao Zhan nodded and then looked towards Yang Zi and then asked her to follow him. They went to the nearby garden and sat down on the chairs.

'Do you want something to drink..?" Xiao Zhan asked,

'i am fine...' yang Zi said and she sat close to Xiao Zhan.

"Zhan.. I am glad that you are back.. I missed you.. How are you Zhan..? you look rather tired.." Yang Zi asked.

"I am okay.. Yang Zi, I am just tired due to all the journey and all.." Xiao Zhan said.

"Then it is fine.. you know I went out with my friends last week and they were all fussing me asking about when will we get engaged... It was really annoying, When I talked to my parents they were actually ready to move forward withe engagement, that day before you dash out, they were about to inform about that. Zhan.. I cant wait to be yours.." Yang Zi said with a soft smile. Xiao Zhan could feel a tinge of uneasiness pooling inside him. Eventhough his face remained neutral, the brewing storm of conflicted emotions in his mind was no joke. Xiao Zhan went numb in his mind and he couldnt help but say to the hopeful eyes of Yang Zi. Yang Zi was over the moon, she suddenly hugged Xiao Zhan.

"i love you Zhan.. I cant wait to tell them.. Let me go and inform them that you agreed to the engagement..." She said and ran towards the living room.

Xiao zhan was rooted to his place unable to move. Even though he was standing in a open space, he felt the surroundings are shrinking towards his cutting off his air and suffocating him. It was like the light that surrounded him was vanishing a bit by but and make him completely merged with darkness. He wanted to run and scream and object, he was in a state of paralysis.

Xiao zhan heard the happy voice of his family and others. They are happy that xiao zhan is getting married. He has no one to blame other than himself. When he first came here, Yang Zi was a good friend and when he misunderstood that Yibo moved on, he also for the sake of his family decided to move on. It wouldn't have come to this extent if he was a little braver. But he was a coward and thus he ran, ran away from his problems so that he can keep his family safe. He put himself in the back of everything and tried to walk through the new path he created for himself. He thought he was doing the right thing. But now he doesn't know anymore. He should be happy, but he cant.. he wanted to be with Yibo and he doesn't know how he can achieve that without hurting anyone.
