As I sat at the bar, sipping my fruity beverage, the loneliness began to sink in. It seems as if the bar had cleared out, and here I was getting tipsy on my own. I guess it wasn't too bad enjoying some alone time, although I felt as if I wasted a perfectly good dress. I might as well have come down in jeans and a shirt, or my pj's.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" A guy said as I looked up to see a handsome young guy standing in front of me.
"N... No," I stuttered out, my nerves bubbling at the thought of trying to flirt. I just had to remember what Hannah said. You're in a fresh state where no one knows you, so it doesn't matter about saying the wrong thing.
"Good. I saw you from across the bar, and I had to buy you a drink," he spoke, calling the waiter over and ordering me another Malibu as I sat there blushing.
"Uh, thank you.. I'm Angel," I said, holding my hand out as he looked down with a grin before taking my own hand and shaking it firmly. It wasn't until his hand was connected with mine that I saw the ring on his finger, pulling away quickly. This was awkward.
"Eddie. What brings you to town?" He asked as the drinks were placed in front of us.
"Work..." I said stiffly, losing interest in the fact that this guy was already clearly taken.
"Me too." he said as a weird silence fell in between us. "Why don't we get to it then," he said as I raised my eyebrow at him.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, crossing my armas sitting up in my seat.
"A girl as pretty as you sitting alone in a bar. I think we both know what i'm talking about so if you just say the price we can..."
"I am not an escort!" I harped, feeling offended and insecure all at once.
"Oh, Come on, no need to play games," he said, still not getting the clue that I wasn't interested.
"I think you should sit somewhere else," I spoke, turning away, hearing a scoff from Eddie.
"Listen, why don't you just let me show you..."
"She said, you should sit somewhere else," a voice intruded as we both turned to see Henry standing there looking and sounding much different than usual. His typical button up and dress pants were replaced with jeans and a black t-shirt, making my eyes widen at the look. It was odd seeing my boss wear casual clothing, but compared to what I was wearing, it was far from dressy.
"Who are you?" Eddie asked, trying to seem intimidating, but Henry stood firm, his glare at the guy piercing daggers, even intimidating myself. He looked over at me for a quick moment, before redirecting his attention.
"Her boss. And I don't like when my employees are being sexually harassed by married men," he said, making a small smile peak up on my face as he called the guy out. The guy stood up shaking his head before standing and walking away cursing under his breath.
I looked over at Henry who stood for a moment before taking a seat next to me. "I thought you were heading to bed," I said, pulling a drink to me and taking a sip.
"Yes well... I couldn't let you celebrate alone," he said, ordering himself a bourbon.
"I'll admit, there hasn't been much celebration going on," I admitted, nervously spinning in my seat.
"I can see that. You deserve it though. You were really the consultant today," he said as I blushed, shaking my head.
"Well, you've taught me about being more vigilant, and if I hadn't pointed out the familiarity of the Gold Pendant, I wouldn't have even thought about it," I responded, as I noticed we couldn't help but talk about anything else but work.
