Working on Weekends

Even though it was Saturday, there was only one thing that could get my mind off of the events from last night. I was not necessarily as mad at Lucas as I was intimidated about what he was capable of. I thought I could keep up with him and all the new kinky things he wanted to try with me, and so far I could handle it. Last night was such a drastic turn that a part of me felt as if I was seeing a whole different person. When he called my phone the next morning, it took everything in me to not answer and let him tell me all the sweet things he did before. I wanted him to kiss the bruises on my wrist and the marks on my behind.

I sat at my desk, hoping to fall into my research of The Sword of Emperor Maximilian 1, analyzing the metal and foreign text along the blade. As I sat there staring into the microscope, I heard a cough from behind me, making me jump a bit.

I turned to see Henry standing there with his arms crossed. I jumped a bit, not realizing someone had entered the room at all. "Today is your day off. What are you doing here?" He asked, as I shook my head, turning away quickly knowing I'd been crying and my face was most likely still red.

"I just felt like doing research. I'm sure, you've had those days," I said, hearing his footsteps moving towards me. My heart raced as I tried to focus on looking through the scope, pretending to be more invested in my work than I really was.

"I do. When I have something on my mind that's bothering me," he responded now standing next to me. "Look at me," he said commandingly as I closed my eyes while taking a breath. I peaked up slowly, seeing him looking down with sincere concern. He then looked down at my sleeves as I gasped  pulling them down, trying to cover the marks. He stopped me, wrapping my wrist and pulling up the sleeve cursing, seeing the slight bruising.

"I'm fine, Henry. Can I just get back to work," I asked with a sigh, trying to pull away as he let go of me, not moving from his position.

"Why did you let him do that to you," He asked, making me look up once again, taking a deep breath.

"I didn't. Not really. I don't want to talk about it, if you don't mind," I responded, pleading with my eyes for him to drop this. I didn't want to cause any problems between Henry and his brother.

"I swear I will..."

"Henry," I interrupted. "It wasn't just his fault. I.. I was in over my head. It doesn't matter now. I just want to delve into the world of history and science," I said, trying to sound as reassuring as possible. He shook his head, looking at me once more, seeming to calm as he saw my soft smile.

"If that's the case, I'm taking a small road trip to Montana to pick up a piece for the museum of Natural Science," he said as my eyes widened at the name.

"Natural Science?" I asked, trying not to jump out of my seat.

"I know it's not really the usual stuff we do, but it's a piece from the pompeii exhibit, so I figured there could be some history to discover," he said as I now hopped up.

"The Roman city of Pompeii was frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, burying everything in its path for more than 1700 years!" I chirped, knowing my facts about natural disasters in history.

"I shouldn't be surprised," Henry responded with a smile creeping onto his face.

"Well, my parents were doomsday preppers, so I grew up living off the land and reading and learning everything there is to know in order to survive during any natural disaster or catastrophic event," I explained seeing him raise an eyebrow. This is why I never really shared the fact much, because it always was followed with a million questions.

"You're kidding? So did you guys live underground or...?" He remarked as I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms.

"No, contrary to popular belief. We just practiced evacuation into the bunker once a month," I explained, earning a chuckle from him as I scoffed. "There have been times my dad insisted we stayed longer, but never more than three months at a time."

"What's so funny? I'm being serious. It was actually a nice lifestyle. I mean, my parents were a little nutty and overly cautious, but they were also extremely intelligent and kind people,"  I explained. People always got the wrong impression of my parents when hearing stories or even on first impressions. Living in the woods for years at a time would make a person pretty socially awkward.

"I have no doubt they are. Do they live far? Do you think they'd come visit you?" He asked, as I shrugged my shoulders.

"Well, considering Washington is covered by water on two sides, it might be a hard thing to convince," I said as he held back another chuckle. "My birthday is next month though, and we never miss it so I might go back home," I remarked.

"Well, I never knew these things. Anyway, I'm inviting you with me, if you'd like. Especially considering you have some knowledge," he said as I smiled wide.

"Of Course! Are you leaving now?" I asked, gathering my stuff.

"No, but why don't you go home and change into something a bit more comfortable for the road. I'll pick you up in an hour or so.." he said as I nodded my head, not being able to help myself as I pulled him into a hug.

"Thank you, Henry. This just made my week!" I cheered, before separating and running out to freshen up. This would definitely get my mind off of last night
