Moments

The ride back home was silent for a while. It seemed as if Henry was in thought as he stared at the road ahead. As the silence became deafening I turned to him ready to engage.

"So, I feel like I've told you a lot about my family. Why don't you tell me about yours?" I asked, curious on what he would reveal.

He took a breath, tensing in his seat a bit. "There's not much to tell really. I mean, you've met my oldest brother," Henry said, catching me off a bit as I raised an eyebrow. Oldest?

"You have other siblings?" I asked, as he scoffed, peeking towards me as if to check my expression.

"Yes. I have a younger brother as well. He's much more... flamboyant than my brother and I. He's my mother's prized possession. His name is Justin. He works under my mother in the fashion industry. She runs one of the largest fashion clothing lines in the U.S," He said as my jaw dropped in surprise.

It was safe to say Lucas never mentioned any of these things in our many encounters. Not like it was usually a topic of conversation for us. "That's much cooler than my family. And your dad?"  I asked. It was in an instant that the air in the room evaporated and the silence filled the space.

After a moment he let out a sigh. "He uh.. Passed when we were in high school. It was pretty sudden," Henry said, taking me back a bit.

"I had no idea. I'm sorry to hear that," I said, leaning back in my chair, seeing Henry's expression turn down.

"Yeah, well I'm not surprised. Lucas never liked talking about the past. He was pretty close to our dad so his death was hard on him," Henry spoke, as I realized what the wall was that Lucas had.

"I'm sure it was hard on you too," I responded as he gave a small forced smile nodding his head. "Yeah, it was. I just feel like I lost my brother the same day I lost him," He responded in a morbid mood, feeling morbid as I felt bad about their relationship. There was a lot more to this family than a sex lodge. "Anyway, it was all a long time ago."

We sat for a moment longer in silence as I thought of what to say next. I then had an idea, leaning forward and turning on the radio. The music started going and I raised my eyebrow to the tune. He shook his head, blushing a bit. "I know it's not what young people listen to nowadays..."

"Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor," I interrupted, seeing him whip his head around to me, swerving slightly doing so.

"You know classical music?" He asked as I nodded my head.

"Yeah, while my father was a philosopher and builder, my mother had a passion for the arts. We spent more time learning the piano than we did basic algebra, I said as he let out a chuckle shaking his head.

"What's your favorite?" He asked as I thought for a moment, one song popping into my head.

"Yiruma, kiss the rain," I responded as he raised an eye.

"That's a good one. Kind of a slow one."

"My mother used to play it for me and my little cousin Archie. He's on the spectrum and classical really calmed him down. After my uncle's wife passed him and Archie came to live with us, and he's just as Koo-koo as his sister and brother in-law, so we were like... the underground addams family," I harped as I looked over to see him smiling at me as he parked the car in front of my house.

"You become more and more interesting every second that I speak to you," he said as I blushed.

"Well, I have to admit, it is nice to talk to someone about history and classical music. After I moved out, I managed to surround myself with people who were the exact opposite but 'interesting' isn't what everyone else thought," I responded, turning towards him and fiddling with my hands.

"Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. College was worse than high school when it came to fitting in," He spoke as I only wished I knew what high school was like. College would have been horrible if it wasn't for Hannah. "Well, thank you so much for coming with me today, Angel," Henry said as I shook my head.

"No, thank you for letting me come! I really enjoy spending time with you, outside of work," I responded, feeling my heart race a bit as we sat across from each other, glancing up to meet his piercing gaze.

"Yeah... me too," he responded, as I bit my lip, thinking about what I wanted to do. I knew what I wanted, but the fear of making things weird at work kept me sitting there, hesitating about it. As I looked at Henry staring at me with his beautiful soft green eyes, I couldn't help it any longer. All thoughts of an awkward work place went out of my mind as I jumped forward and placed my lips straight onto his own, the feeling sending butterflies straight to my stomach. He seemed hesitant at first, but after a second he kissed me back, his hands reaching up into my hair and kissing me deeply.

Just as the kiss began to deepen, I pulled away catching my breath. I opened my eyes, looking up to see Henry flushed as his hand still stayed tangled in my hair. "I've wanted to kiss you for so long," Henry spoke, making me blush as my eyes raised.

"Really? I mean I know we've had a few moments, but I was starting to think that's all it was... moments," I said, as he nodded his head.

"I never wanted to do anything I wasn't sure you wanted or if I should. I also didn't know about you and Lucas's relationship," he responded as I looked down shaking my head.

"I understand. I don't really know either, if I'm being honest. And I'm pretty sure he realized I'm not exactly his type," I remarked, trying to shake my head from remembering what he did to me.

"I don't want to say I'm glad to hear that, but a girl like you deserve's...." he paused for a minute as if searching for the right words. "You deserved the world."

I looked back up at him, a smile edging onto my face as I couldn't contain myself. I then leaned forward once more, giving him a much more gentle kiss as his lips matched my slow pace, pulling away after only a second. I let out a breath and smiled. I knew at this moment that I like Henry as much more than my boss, and even more than just in a lustful way. And that absolutely terrified me.
