Breathing room

The time apart won't
be long for we have a whole life yet to walk along.

Breathing is
essential to all living,
Beings on this plant.
Without breathing
life cannot go on.

To not be allowed,
the oxegen and
Carbon dioxide,
out is to intoxicate
One self into hallucination.
If this were to happen,
then you would
be near death's door.

So you
take a breath
in and out.
You do it again,
repeating a rhythm.
You do it one
last time and look at me.
You move your feet
and shuffle out the open door.
You leave a shadow
in your presence.

As I look at it
ever so cautiously.
I breathe in
and out slowly
picking up pace.
I breathe too quickly,
and I could choke
on the very essence of life,
if I don't stop.

I try to calm the
beating heart that
shaking from the core.
I try to breathe
but no oxgen is coming out.
I can't keep fighting
it yet I'm struggling
to breathe as the shadow
comes closer to me.
I shake at its sight
wondering what it will do.

The shadow embraces
me with a hug and says
"I Do Love you"
I pause for a moment.
My breath caught still.
I look into the shadow and
Realize you are there.
It was finally my turn to see
How it feels without air.
You walked out to finally
Have some room.
Maybe it's my time
To give up and allow
You to breathe just as much
As me too.
For, in the end, I'll be here
To stay. Cause breathing without
You are like
fighting life to stay.
