Chapter One

    Y/N carefully printed her notes onto the blank notebook in front of her, peering up at the whiteboard every once in a while. Her legs were beginning to ache from the long day of sitting in the chair, the classroom's air conditioning was beginning to die after its miserable life of pumping air.

    "Students, do any of you know the answer to this question?" The teacher, Lisa, asked. When no one raised their hand, Lisa sighed in disappointment. "How about you, Heizou?"

    "What?" A soft voice said, causing Y/N to turn around. Heizou was blinking tiredly, dark circles under his eyes, similar to the rest of the 5WIRL group.

    The class laughed at his ignorance, except for the other members of the band, who gave him sympathetic looks. Y/N looked at the board. The arithmetic equation written there was so long and complex that even she could not begin to decipher it. Y/N felt a small prick of sympathy for Heizou, but she rolled her eyes. Heizou was an annoying student who did nothing except disrupt the class, he deserved the punishment that he was going to get.

    Heizou stood up, walking to the front of the class. His olive green eyes scanned the room, causing the girls to whisper excitedly. Everyone was absolutely obsessed with the member of the 5WIRL group. Y/N didn't understand their attraction towards him, Kazuha and Xiao were obviously the more handsome members of the band. He wrote quickly, his handwriting in thin, loopy curls appearing on the board. He stepped back suddenly, and walked back to his seat. Lisa squinted at his work, looking at the textbook then back at the board in surprise.

    "Y-you're correct, Shikanoin Heizou," Lisa stuttered, shocked.

    Y/N frowned. That problem had to be the most difficult in all of RHS, how had he solved it so easily? She had to study more, and focus in her classes. That Heizou would not overtake her perfect grades so easily. She glanced furtively at him, noting how he slumped in his seat, absently twirling a pencil between his slender fingers. This Heizou Y/N was still unaccustomed to, for this one was so unlike the one she had met in elementary school. The one she had met long ago had been more open, more willing to share. But now he was closed off to others, as if a barrier had been built around his heart. Whenever someone tried to talk with him, he would deflect their questions with flirty comments that got all of the girls riled up.

    Y/N tuned out the rest of the class, her mind drifting as Lisa rambled on and on about things that Y/N already knew. The bell rang, startling Y/N out of her daze. The other students were already exiting the room, leaving only Y/N and Heizou.

    "Hey, Y/N," Heizou said, winking at her. He smirked, and Y/N expected to feel annoyed, but she didn't feel anything at all.

    "Ugh, just leave me alone." Y/N slid her notes into her binder, preparing to leave. But as she was about to exit the room, Heizou blocked her way, smiling.

    "Why won't you talk to me anymore?" Heizou asked, almost as if he was curious. But Y/N could tell that he wasn't focusing on their conversation, that he was drifting like how she had during the lesson.

    "Because there's no point in talking to someone who avoids having to answer anything," Y/N snapped back angrily, shoving past him. She couldn't help but look back at him for a moment. He was standing still, in the center of the hallway, eyes squeezed shut as he rocked back and forth on his heels. That's not my problem, Y/N thought to herself, walking out of RHS. If he wanted to talk to me, he should be honest and stop wasting my time.
