Innocent and cheerful Mehr Riaz is excited to finally start her Medical Internship at NM Hospital. But she never expects to be working under rude and brooding Dr. Rayyan Malik who turns out to be the very same guy she met on the first day of her Med...
Here's a few words that'll be used frequently in Hindi:
Allah = God (Arabic) Daada/ Daadu = Grandfather (Father's father) Daadi = Grandmother (Father's mother) Papa = Father Mama/ Ma = Mother Bhai/ Bhaiyya = Brother Yaar = Friend (Informal way of saying 'Bro')
CHAPTER 2
THE INTERNSHIP
MEHR RIAZ:
A few years later...
"Bhai! I'm getting late. Should we leave?"
Today was the first day of my internship and I'm already on the verge of being late.
My entire family stays awake after Fajr but I have a habit of sleeping after the prayer till the last moment I absolutely need to get up.
(Morning Prayer for Muslims at Sunrise)
Bad habit I know... but sleep is life for me.
So when my alarm rang at 8am, I pushed snooze three times before finally waking up.
I usually drive my scooty or sometimes my best friend, Kinza who's an amazing photographer and an even amazing social media celebrity drops me off at the college on the way to her Photo Studio.
I didn't have my scooty with me today and even she wasn't able to drive me as she had to attend a last minute meeting regarding a photoshoot. Thankfully, she messaged me last night. And Zayn Bhai is there to save the day.
You wouldn't need someone to drive you if you hadn't failed the Driver's Licence Test...TWICE.
Well...Third time's the charm!
I had to report at the hospital by 9am. So, I'm hoping I can make it in time now that Zayn Bhai is dropping me off on his way to work.
"Mehru, I've been ready and waiting for you for five minutes already. Chalo ab!" Zayn Bhai exclaimed. He was used to the fact that I take my own sweet time getting ready.
(Let's go)
"Thank you Bhai" I said smiling sheepishly. I'm proud to be the pampered kid of the Riaz family.
Daadi and Mama have gone to my aunt's home early in the morning to help her out with the preparations of my cousin's upcoming wedding. Papa has left for work on my scooty because Mama took the car he drives.
Bhai and I quickly lock the front door and get into his jeep. It was his prized possession because it was his forever dream to own one and he had purchased it just last year after finally saving up for it.

As he starts driving, he points over at a bag near the console.
"There's a chicken wrap in that and your coffee's in the cup holder... have it on the way. And I packed you lunch as well. Don't forget to take it with you."
