It turned out to be beneficial that Dr. Rayyan sent me home early yesterday. I got some much needed sleep, had some delicious Biryani and now, I feel way better.
But we're back to the hustle today.
It's been few hours into the day and I feel like Dr. Rayyan is a ticking time bomb today. He's been constantly asking us interns multiple questions about patient histories and medical procedures. One mistake and he might burst out on us.
We're all now having a small break in the on-call room. There are other doctors as well busy with their work but Dr. Rayyan isn't here.
He either must be with his patients or in his cabin which is just adjacent to the on-call room.
I'm on my third packet of Skittles for the day when Dr. Rayyan walks in. I smell his cologne in the room before he even speaks up.
Rich people wearing amazing expensive perfume like it's been given out for free... smh
"I'll be performing bypass surgery on Mr. Shah tomorrow. I want Dev and Mehr to assist me in the surgery." Dr. Rayyan says. He scowls as he says my name but we'll just ignore that.
Oh my Gosh! It's the first surgery with Dr. Rayyan and I've been selected! YESS!
The doctors and other interns in the on-call room all clap for us and come up to congratulate Dev and me. I have a big smile on my face and I'm waiting to be alone so I can jump in excitement.
"I expect you both to be well prepared tomorrow. I want no mistakes." Dr. Rayyan specifically stares me down as he says the last part. But nothing can dampen my mood.
I reply with full enthusiasm dancing at the balls of my feet "Yes Doctor."
Dr. Rayyan seems to be even more irritated as I look up at him with a huge grin on my face.
"Don't smile too much, Ms. Riaz. You look like Chucky from that horror movie." He whispers quietly so only I can hear.

Everyone's so busy talking to each other they don't seem to notice us.
"Thank you for your concern Dr. Rayyan but Chucky happens to be my favourite character." I reply while gritting my teeth but still showing my smile just to annoy him even more. I don't want to give him the satisfaction that he's managed to annoy me again.
"And if we're talking about look alikes, I think you look exactly like Gru from the minions movie." I whisper to him.
