Akio and I waved back then watched as Koharu left. After she had gone we turned to the cottage and strolled to the small beach situated at the back of the building. Akio went ahead of me and stood watching the sea with hands on his hips. He took in a deep breath and smiled. "This place really is amazing and to think this is school trip, it seems so unreal."

"Yeah...a little too unreal." I stood near to Akio and narrowed my eyes as I gazed off into the distance. "Don't you find it all a bit suspicious?"

"Come on, lighten up a little Ren! You don't have to be so sceptical, let's just enjoy ourselves while we can." Akio put his arm around me and grinned.

I glanced downwards trying to disguise my doubts. "I suppose you're right."

"Of course I am, now let's finish up our searching then find something fun to do together; we could even invite Rem too." With a smile, Akio led me to the cottage door.

I smiled to myself, I guess it was just his energy or aura but I felt safe with him. However, there was that odd sense of familiarity again. I felt as though I had known him for years but for all I knew this was our first day meeting.

First day meeting...is that really true? I can't deny my senses. Suppose I should ask him about that. Maybe I'm the only one who's getting this feeling but I would like to check first before I dismiss it.

Before I knew it we were in the cottage. It was much more spacious than it looked from the outside as most of it was open-plan. There was a couple of refrigerators stocked full of drinks of soft and carbonated variety in both bottles and cans of different sizes. Towards the back of the cottage there was a storage room full of wetsuits, surfboards, and a few spare deck chairs. Off to the right was a shower room with a single high up window and a vent.

"This place is perfect if we want to use the small beach here. Don't you think?" Akio had searched through the cottage with an air of excitement and now he had turned to me, waiting for my take on it.

"Yeah, it's easy access and if anyone needs to change then there's good privacy." I replied, half looking around as I spoke. "Hey, Akio, I have a question for you." I looked to the other boy.

"Shoot away." He wore a little smile on his face when he answered.

"I know this is little weird but have we met before coming here?" I moved my head to the side ever-so-slightly and touched the back part of my neck.

"Hmm, I don't think we have." He tapped his chin with his index finger then shrugged. "I'm pretty sure I'd remember a handsome guy like you. What brought upon the question?"

I could feel myself blush at his remark, pretty sneaky of him too. I composed myself swiftly. "It's just that your last name is familiar plus I get the feeling I know you from somewhere but I don't know where. This might be a long shot but do you know someone by the name of Kaito Momota?"

Akio's eyes seemed to light up at the mention of the name. "For sure I do, that's my old man!" A proud grin was displayed on his face. "How do you know him?"

I was a bit taken back for a moment. "He's your dad!? Well now that I think about it, I do see the resemblance." Now that this fact had sunken in I was even more confused. "That's the thing, he's mine and Rem's godfather, and he's a close friend of our parents. So that leaves the question, how did we not know each other as well? You're my age and I'm sure our parents would have introduced us at some point."

Akio seemed to be at a loss for words before he was able to gather his thoughts. "Okay okay, so you're telling me that we may have already known each other but we've somehow forgotten? Sounds a bit farfetched."
