After the battle, Knuckles was in the dungeon in bandages. He was patched up with on the bed.
That's when the cell door open and he sees her. Shayera 'who was patched up from her injuries' walks to him with a saddened but gracious expression.
Shayera sat next to him and said, "Hey Uhh..."
Knuckles replied as he blushed, "Hey." Shayera didn't know what to say but Knuckles couldn't hide his feelings for Shayera any longer.
Shayera 'with a grateful expression' said as she took a deep breath, "Listen I..." Thats when Knuckles cut her off and said gently and softly as he placed a finger on her delicate lips, "Shh... uh. uh. uh. Shayera." She was taken by surprise.
That's when Knuckles said as he placed his hands on her shoulder, "Listen, I... I can no longer hide what I can't deny anymore. In fact I can't hide it anymore. Shayera, I...I'm in love with you. Even if you were serious, I still will be in love with you. No matter what it won't make me change my mind. Ever since I saw you, I couldn't stop thinking about you. Not ever. It drives me crazy when I think and dream of you. I know it's insane but it's true. I love you Shayera."
Shayera was surprised before she awkwardly said with half a smile, "Uhh, I was just gonna thank you for saving my life. Even though I didn't deserve it."
Knuckles felt a little embarrassed before Shayera asked, "Tell me something, if you were gonna expose me how come you didn't do it?" Knuckles answered her, "You kidding? Everyone in the village thinks I'm crazy. Besides it will only result in you hating us more."
Shayera muttered, "True." Thats when Knuckles said with a sincere tone, "Sonic, all of hedgehog village owes you a really big apology, most of all me. Not just us not believing you over Eggman but every day since. If I knew how much I hurt you, if we just believe in you. None of this woulda happen. I'm so so so sorry. How can I so stupid? Now I really know it was all counter productive but it's you who I shoulda fixed my past mistakes with."
Shayera was a little flattered. Not convinced but touched by his apology. Though her heart skipped a beat as she smiled.
