I wait for Lockser at the subway, she's late. I finally see a blue hair making its way through the crowd, she comes into view, people swarms dragging her away. She holds her hand out and I grab it. We finally settle inside the train, I was holding the handle to keep myself from falling.
"There's too many people," she mutter.
"Well duh," I laugh. "We're in a subway. Aren't you used to it? You told me that you ride the train to school, don't you?"
"I don't," she shrugs. "I just told you that I do because I thought you'd be mad at me if I said that I didn't."
"You shouldn't have," I frown. "If you're not comortable with this I could've picked you up or something. We'll figure something out tomorrow."
"Wow," she said, rolling her eyes, "You act like my boyfriend."
I turn red, "I'm just a caring friend, that's all."
"Yeah right," she said sarastically. "Your future girlfriend would be so lucky. You're caring, you don't want the other person to feel uncomfortable. I can just imagine you telling her you love her and all that shit."
"Why are you so bitter when it comes to stuff like that?"
She shift uncomfortably. "I don't know, I just don't think there's such thing as 'love', holy mother forgive me or speaking that forbidden word!"
"You'll find someone you'll love soon enough," I shrug. "And when you think back, you'll laugh at yourself. You'll say, 'Hm, Gray was right all along, now I found the person I'm meant to be with'."
"Yuck," she scrunch her nose. "That is so gross."
"Why are you so bitter, huh?" I nudged her rib.
"Stop that," she said firmly but I continue to do it anyway. "People leave and people die, there's no such thing as 'together forever' and those crap, that's the shitty truth about the thing we call 'life'. Damn, I should be a poem."
"You mean a poet?" I ask and she roll her eyes. "Your poems would all be about miserable people." I notice her edge closer to me, as if hiding in my armpit. "What're you doing?"
"When can we get off this train?" She asks, her voice again filled with alarm. I look around to see what the reason is. "Speak English if you want to talk to me."
"Why?" I ask in English and the old woman beside me scooted away. "Is Jackal here?"
"He can't be here," she said. "He's got a concussion."
"What?!" I ask just as the train stopped and the people looked at me.
"Fuck!" She cried out loud and ran. I follow her too. I hear people running behind us. Assuming they were following us, I run faster. "We're gonna have to run to the school."
"Without stopping?!" I exclaimed.
"Without stopping!" She yelled back. "Run faster and don't dare speak in Japanese!"
"Why not?"
"Because they'll understand!" She yelled. "Don't stop running!"
"I have to, or else I'm gonna die!" She slowed down a bit and grabbed me by the arm, practically dragged me all the way to the gates of Fairy High. The guys stood there, they look our age. But of course they can't enter because the guards stood up and glared at them. "Okay, what did you do now?"
"I didn't do nothin'!" She snapped. "Those guys, I just had a fight with them and I won, they got so pissed that wanna kill me but they can't 'cause they can't even land a finger."
