I lay in bed staring at the ceiling. I still can't believe that Lockser was my first love, let alone the girl I promised to marry. It's her fault that we got punished; she was the one who insisted we hang out after school and I guess it's partly mine for forgetting that we had detention. I hear a knock on my door, breaking my train of thoughts.
"''Yeah?" I ask and the door open, mom looks at me with apologetic eyes, "What do you want?"
"I'm sorry I insulted your girlfriend," she apologizes.
"It's fine, but I don't think that you should apologize to me," I say, "You should apologize to her. She's a great person and I don't think she deserved to be called that."
"I feel bad, okay?"
"You should," I say. I look at her when she starts to look at me curiously.
"But, is she really your girlfriend?"
"What? No, we're just friends," I say, she raises an eyebrow which frustrates me so much, how can they raise only one eyebrow? I can't ever do that.
"I said; I'm sorry I insulted your girlfriend," she tells me, "And you didn't bother to correct me." I give her a look that says; no you didn't, but she says, "Yes I did."
"Well, I didn't hear it," I say hoping that she would leave already, but instead she sits on my bed, I sighed. Parents, they can't ever get a clue.
"Where were you after school?" She asks, "I got a call saying you skipped on detention, where did you go?"
"I forgot," I reply, "I went to hangout with a friend."
"Juvia didn't come for today's session," she say, "Could it be that that friend you hung out with was Juvia?"
"Yeah, and so?" I ask, getting a little annoyed, why is she talking to me like I'm three years old?
"Just don't fall too hard, son," she looks at me in eye. She only use the word son when she's serious, "You know how it is, your dad picks your wife for an arranged marriage. He's letting you date now because he thinks that that way you won't rebel. That how it is in the Fullbuster family."
"Mom, I don't wanna talk about it," I say through gritted teeth.
"Gray-"
"Please get out, I'm tired," I say, she sighs and leave.
I know damn well how marriage works in this damn family, dad married mom because their parents told them to do so and now I feel like they regret ever marrying each other. I don't want to live a life like them. As cheesy as it may be but I want to marry a woman I love.
I want my life to be happy. When I get home I want my wife to greet me with a kiss, and my kids as annoying as they can be, a daughter who wants me to carry her like a princess or a son who wants me to give him a piggyback ride like he's a prince or both. I may not look like the cheesy type, but deep down I am.
My thoughts were again broken when my phone rings and from unknown number again.
"Hello?" I say.
"When are you gonna save my damn number Fullbuster?!" An annoyed voice replies in which I recognized easily; Lockser, "But anyway, what are you doing right now?"
"Nothing," I reply, "Just thinking about stuff."
"Just thinking about wanting a loving wife and loving kids?" She laughs, when I was silent she says, "Were you really thinking about wives and kids?" I didn't want to admit so I stayed silent, "You still there?"
"Why did you call?" I ask.
"Well somebody's on their period today," she mutters but loud enough for me to hear, "You up for some under covering shit?"
