I wake up and the first thing I see is Lockser's drooling face. I stretch and look around. Last night we didn't do anything but drove to a seaside valley outside of town and talked, eventually we fell asleep. I hear moving and look at Lockser again: She's already waking up, her eyes fluttering open and soon her blue eyes stares into mine
"Morning," I mutter.
"Morning," she replies, yawning and stretching her arms.
"Did you sleep well?" I ask.
"Yes," she smiles warmly making me smile too, but that soon turns into a frown when she glares at me, "Did you freaking expect me to say that? It was so cold I couldn't sleep and I can't have a comfortable position. You left the windows open and there were too many freaking mosquitoes! You snore really loud and you talk in your sleep, how do you expect me to sleep in such conditions?!"
I roll my eyes, and here I was thinking that her warm smile finally means a green light for me to make a move. I grimace and she does too, "Oh shut it, you're just a spoiled brat that's why you couldn't sleep, plus I don't snore! What time is it anyway?"
She pulls out her phone, "5 am." She spares me a glance, "And yes, you do snore. You talk in your sleep, I swear I heard 'I love you, Lockser' last night."
My heartbeat speeds up, what if I really said that. Before I even realize it, my face turns red. "I did not!"
"Dude, I was just kidding-" she pauses to look at me with wide-eyes, "You... You don't like-"
"I don't!" I interrupt.
"Why the hell are you yelling so early in the morning, damn!" She yells through gritted teeth as she rubs her ears. I notice how her ears looks so fragile and how her left ear is pierced, "You're like a nagging wife."
"I'm gonna drop me off at my house to change, then let's drive to yours and go to school," I say and start driving. We drive to my house and I get out the door.
Just as I enter, I feel a slap across my face. "What the-" I didn't get to finish because someone slaps me again. I look up to see my fuming mother, "What is wrong with you?!"
"Is that the way to talk to your mom who brought you to this world?!" She screams, "How do you expect me to react when you stay out and not come home for the night, Gray!? Where were you? Who were you with? You didn't go clubbing, did you? What if you got someone pregnant?! You're too young, Gray-"
"Calm down, alright-"
"I can't calm down!" She yells as she slaps me again. I glare at her and she says, "Don't give me that look, Gray! I lived in this world without you and you couldn't have lived here without me!"
"Then maybe you shouldn't have brought me here!" I yell back, I'm never the one who talks back -especially to my mom. But somehow, seeing her frustrates me. Maybe because she's never paid attention to me and her attention is always to her patients, "I'm here because you and dad were horny one night and decided to have sex-"
A slap is thrown again, "Tell me, where did I go wrong, Gray? Where did I go wrong? Why are you rebelling now? Is it because of Lockser-"
"Don't bring here in this conversation," I grit out.
"So it is because of that girl," she says, "She's a bad influence, I don't want you hanging out with her from now on-"
