Kang Hana's POV
I parked Beomgyu's car at the palace and made my way to the office of his personal assistant to report the incident with the fans. As Soobin had mentioned the other day, I was aware that Beomgyu's stalker wouldn't dare to act so openly. This meant that those two girls were likely not the stalkers. Whoever was behind this was skilled at staying hidden. However, I knew it wouldn't be long before either Soobin or I uncovered their identity.
I knocked on the office door, and a soft but clear voice responded, "Come in."
Turning the door knob, I entered the enclosed space and nodded respectfully, "Hello, Sir. I am Kang Hana, His Highness's new bodyguard. Prince Beomgyu has instructed me to inform you of any issues that need to be addressed."
The man stood up and introduced himself, "I am Beomgyu's personal assistant, Min Junho. You can just call me Junho, Ms. Kang."
He smiled warmly and gestured for me to sit in one of the chairs. As I sat down, I quickly observed Junho. He didn't appear to be older than 30, and his kind smile made him seem even younger. He was dressed casually, and I noticed he had been working on something at his desk.
I took a seat and quickly assessed the surroundings. Junho's desk was cluttered with disorganised papers, but the bookshelf behind him told a different story. It was filled with rows and rows of books, and my eyes landed on one of my all-time favorites, "The Hunger Games." Junho seemed to notice and commented, "You also like 'The Hunger Games' books?"
I nodded, trying not to seem overly enthusiastic. It suddenly felt a bit childish, but there was something about Katniss Everdeen and me that felt strangely similar, though I could never quite pinpoint it.
"So, Ms. Kang, is there an issue? Did the Prince do something to you? It's always been a wonder how Jae Gyeong put up with him for so long."
I looked at Junho with amusement but maintained a serious tone, "My boss, Choi Soobin, mentioned that Beomgyu has a stalker who has been threatening him for quite a while. I'd like to get more information on that."
Junho's expression shifted to one of concern, and his eyebrows furrowed as he leaned back in his chair, "Ah, the stalker. We've never really managed to identify them, whether it's a her or even a him. It all began when Beomgyu was just 14 years old. He started receiving strange notes every day at school, and gradually, it escalated to pictures of his daily life."
I nodded and listened intently as he continued, "As time went on, it became too dangerous for him to attend regular school, so we resorted to homeschooling. The notes stopped for a while, but when Beomgyu turned 23, they began resurfacing, accompanied by subtle threats. Our royal security team has made every effort to identify this person, but every time we thought we were close, they managed to slip through our fingers."
I leaned in, intrigued, "So, how often does he get these notes now?"
"Back then, it was almost daily. But since we've been upgrading our security system and after we introduced you as Beomgyu's new bodyguard, well, those notes have reduced to every three days."
I tapped my fingers on my thigh as I processed the information, "Does Beomgyu know that he's still receiving these threats?"
Junho shook his head vehemently, "Absolutely not! If Beomgyu ever found out that he's still receiving these notes, it might traumatise him. We've never told him and we also intercept the notes before they reach him. We also need your help to solve this."
I offered him a reassuring nod and said, "Well then, Junho, it's been a pleasure meeting you. I'll make sure to take good care of the Prince, so you won't have to worry about him."
