The Winchesters immediately called the sheriff the instant Bill Carlton didn't appear on the surface. Now, he was taking the three of them with him into the station. When they walked in, they were greeted by Andrea.
"Faith, Sam, Dean," she said, "I didn't expect to see you here."
"So now, you're on a first-name basis," the sheriff asked as he opened the counter to let the three of them in, "what are you doing here?"
"I brought you dinner," Andrea said, motioning towards Lucas, who was rocking back and forth in the chair.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart, I really don't have the time," the sheriff said.
"I heard about Bill Carlton," Andrea said after a brief pause, "is it true? Is something going on with the lake?"
"Right now, we don't know what the truth is, but I think it might be better if you and Lucas went on home," Jake suggested. Lucas looked up at his grandfather's suggestion and immediately ran to Faith, pulling her arm towards him.
"Lucas," Faith said, "What is it?" Andrea came over and grabbed Lucas's shoulders to loosen his grip on Faith.
"Lucas," Faith repeated, "it's ok, it's ok." Lucas calmed down and let go of Faith as Andrea led him towards the door. However, Lucas's eyes never left Faith's as he was led away. Faith immediately felt guilty; Lucas was scared to return home, she could see it in his eyes. She heard the sheriff and her two brothers walk into the office, so she followed them.
"Ok, just so I'm clear," the sheriff said, "you see...something attack Bill's boat, sending Bill, who is a very good swimmer, into the drink, and you never see him again?"
"Yeah, that about sums it up," Dean said.
"And I'm supposed to believe this," the sheriff asked, "even though I've already sonar-swept that entire lake and what you're describing is impossible and you're not really Wildlife Service?" Sam and Dean's faces went blank.
"That's right, I checked," the sheriff said, "the department's never heard of you two."
"See, now we can explain that," Dean said.
"Enough please," the sheriff said, "the only reason you're breathing free air is one of Bill's neighbors saw him steering out that boat just before you did. So we have a couple of options here. I can arrest you for impersonating government officials and hold you as material witnesses to Bill Carlton's disappearance, or we can chalk this all up to a bad day, you get into your car, you put this town in your rearview mirror, and you don't ever darken my doorstep again."
Sam paused for a moment before answering, "Door number two sounds good."
"That's the one I'd pick," the sheriff hissed, "wouldn't you agree Agent?"
Faith nodded her head reluctantly, "yes sir."
"It appears that she's the only one who's really a government official," the sheriff said, "Now get out." The three of them quickly escaped from the office, leaving the station in record time. They all got into the Impala and never looked back.
"How is it that you didn't get ratted out," Dean asked his sister.
"Rule number one about impersonating government officials," Faith said, "always make sure there's a hunter on the other end of the phone." Sam and Dean both chuckled, but it died when they realized that they were screwed.
"What are we going to do," Sam asked.
"You both need to leave," Faith answered, "you can't risk getting arrest. I can finish the case on my own."
