Captain Price took a deep breath, steeling himself for the difficult conversation ahead. Laswell's eyes searched his face, a mix of anticipation and worry in her expression. She knew that the situation had taken an unexpected turn, and she was eager to understand the details.

"Kate, I need you to understand that what happened out there was not part of the original plan. It was (y/n)'s choice, a sacrifice she made willingly to ensure the success of the mission."

Laswell's gaze remained fixed on Price, a blend of concern and anticipation in her eyes. She nodded, urging him to continue.

"Shepherd gave her an ultimatium," Price continued, his voice steady. "(Y/n) was tasked with swapping places with you and becoming the commander of Shadow Company so we wouldn't be executed.."

The weight of the situation settled heavily in the air. Laswell's brows furrowed as she absorbed the complexity of the circumstances.

"So, (y/n) chose to go along with Shepherd's plan?" she inquired, seeking clarification.

Price nodded solemnly. "Yes, she believed it was the best chance she had. She made that decision on her own, Laswell."

Laswell's eyes reflected a mix of admiration and concern for her fellow operative. She understood the immense responsibility that (y/n) bore, and the sacrifices she was willing to make for the greater good.

Price's gaze remained unwavering. "She knew the risks. I just wish I could've prevented it."

Laswell nodded, a somber determination settling over her features. She knew that (y/n) had made her choice, and now it was their turn to honor it.

Across the way, Alex and Gaz were engrossed in a serious conversation. The camaraderie between the two had developed swiftly, as they discovered their commonalities extended beyond their military backgrounds.

"Have you considered the likelihood of the Shadows mounting a rescue mission for (y/n)?" Alex inquired, his voice tinged with concern.

Gaz exhaled deeply, his expression solemn. "To be frank? No. I doubt they'll even make a move. Shepherd caused (y/n)be taken to the middle of nowhere, and the Shadows, well, they're Shepherd's own loyal enforcers."

Alex nodded at the information, realizing that there were some details he had never heard before.

"But has (y/n), you know. Acclimated to people?" Alex let out a dry chuckle.

"Adjusting to people has been a work in progress for (y/n)," Alex remarked, a dry chuckle escaping him.

Gaz nodded in agreement. "Mostly, yes. Although, she and Ghost don't always see eye to eye."

"Ghost?" Recognition dawned on Alex as the name struck a chord in his memory. "Simon Riley?!"

"That's the one," Gaz confirmed. "There's this... unspoken dynamic between them. Can't quite put my finger on it. But personally, I think (y/n) just gets under his skin. She's not like anyone he's come across before, matches him stride for stride in ways that unsettle him."

The gravity of the situation hung heavily in the air as Alex escorted Gaz to the waiting plane, where Laswell and Captain Price stood ready. The two men shared a heartfelt embrace, a silent understanding passing between them. Their parting gesture was a firm handshake, a promise of shared determination.

"Bring my sister back, Kyle," Alex's voice was resolute, his eyes fixed on Gaz.

"You got it," Gaz replied with equal determination. He followed Laswell and Price onto the plane, taking his seat and settling in.

The journey was marked by a heavy silence, broken only by the steady hum of the plane's engines. The absence of (y/n) was palpable, a void that seemed to echo in the cabin. Their gazes lingered on her equipment, a poignant reminder of the brave sacrifice she had made for the mission.

As Captain Price prepared to relay what had transpired to the rest of Task Force 141, a complex mixture of emotions welled up within him. There was a profound sense of responsibility weighing on his shoulders, as he knew that the team looked up to him for guidance and direction. Price was acutely aware that he would be delivering news that would likely shake them to their core.

Guilt gnawed at him, despite knowing that (y/n)'s actions were ultimately her own choice. He couldn't shake the feeling that, as the leader, he should have been able to prevent her from making such a risky move. But now, the enemy was General Shepherd.
