Through the Years with Nick and Charlie

Away

Nick:

It's December now which means that my away matches start soon. I'll be out of town or even country for at least 3 days at a time.
Reasonably so, this was one of the things that char was worried about when it came to me missing things but of course, the perfect thing to calm him down, I'll miss his 2 month check up this weekend.
We've already created a plan so that we can at least talk at night and catch up as much as we can before my curfew.

*leaving day*

It's Friday morning, travel day. I have to leave the house at 8:00am and it's just now 7. Char and I stayed up as late as he could, it's our way of making up for the time I'll be gone. Before, we would stay up all night, but now that he's pregnant, the little one doesn't allow it.

I wake Charlie up thirty minutes before I leave so that we can eat breakfast together, his request. I lean over him and start to kiss his forehead "Morning love" I say and I just get a groan in reply. I smile to myself knowing just the trick to get him up, I go in for his neck. I know for a fact that I hear a moan "you're such a tease, get off" Charlie says pushing me away but smiling at the same time. I back away as he releases himself from the sheets that he's under "I'm up" he says and I grab his hand to pull him towards me, I wrap him up in a bear hug and rocking side to side "I'm gonna miss you char" "don't get all sappy on me, too early" I chuckle at that. I lean back to get a good angle and lean back in to kiss him, lips this time. I wanted to stay in this tender moment forever but I knew that I had to go soon and I could feel that Charlie knew it too. " cmon, wanna have time to eat yeah" he says grabbing my hand

We ate, a bowl of cereal for char, and a fruit bowl and oatmeal for me. We didn't really talk much, just the presence of my husband gave me the comfort I needed.
We were just cuddled up on the couch until the doorbell rung, my driver was here. I opened the door and gave the man all my bags so that he could put them in the boot while I say goodbye to char. "You'll call yeah?" Charlie asks " When have I not love" I say rubbing his cheek making him smile. He sighs before speaking "you'll do great baby, and don't worry about me, I'll be ok" char says before kissing me. I kiss him back for what feels like a millisecond before the driver honks the horn "I love you" "I love you more baby" "impossible" I say before pecking his lips one last time.

Charlie:

I don't shut the door until I can't see the car Nick rode off in. When I do, I sigh and just look around the house that feels 10x bigger than it already was.
It's only 8:00am, he won't be back until early in the morning Sunday . You'd think after years of this that I'd be used to it and know what to do with my time, but i don't.
I've been passing the time by doing my teacher work, cleaning, reading, and laying in nick's side of the bed. He said that he'd call when he got to his hotel, but that probably won't be until like 6:00pm, it's 12.
After a while of sitting around, I call Elle to see if I can come 'round, obviously she says yes so I drive myself the 12 minutes it takes to get there.
"Hii Charlie" Elle smiles and I give her a hug "hi Elle, thanks for letting me come" "anytime" she says letting me in. "Where's Tao" I ask plopping down on their couch " oh I sent him to the store, we didn't have any snacks for game night" she says sitting next to me " wait you guys didn't have to do that, you've done enough for me already" I say feeling a bit guilty "anywayysss- how are you holding up" I laugh at how she just disregarded my comment " good really, I just miss him, and the amount of boredom doesn't help, but good" " yeah I don't know what I'd do if Tao had to leave as much as Nick does". We continue our conversation until Tao gets back. I greet him with a hug, Elle has made him used to them.
We're on our 3rd game of scrabble and I don't even realize how much time has passed until my phone rings and nick's picture pops up " I'll be back" I smile and so does Elle but Tao just rolls his eyes, I snicker at that.
I step outside and quickly answer the FaceTime. "Hi baby" "hiii" I smile " i miss you" Nick says "baby it hasn't even been a day" I laugh "so you don't miss me" "of course I do, I'm at Elle and Tao's, I was too bored, we're playing scrabble a-" I say before getting cut off "nerds" " shut up" I laugh. " you ready for tomorrow" he asks me "it's just an appointment nick, you're the one with a game" "are you gonna watch" "how could I miss watching a bunch of men with muscles throw a ball around and tackle each other" I say sarcastically " um I think you meant man, like singular, like you watch me" he says with an ounce of jealousy that he's trying to hide, but I see it " only you Nick" I say seductively and I see some pink rise in his cheeks. " I love you" " you've gotta go" I ask immediately erasing the smile on my face "yeah, team dinner" "k" "I love you char, I love you I love you I love you" " I love you too Nick" I say making sure to smile so he doesn't worry. I hang up and make my way back inside.
We play a couple more rounds, eat more food, and talk about whatever until it's time for me to go home. I say my goodbyes and thank yous' before heading out and making the drive back to my empty house.
