***Nine days since last chapter
Charlie:
The time has finally come, it's gender reveal day!!!
It's a Friday afternoon and I've just pulled into the car park of the clinic after what felt like ages and ages of classes.
I'm very, very nervous because even though both Nick and I will love our kid no matter what, I know that he wants and has been set on a girl my whole pregnancy!!!When I walk into the clinic, I check in with the front desk ladies and wait for my name to be called.
"Charlie Nelson!!" One of the nurses calls out. I quickly grab my bag and follow them to one of the back rooms. I get situated and sat on the table while I wait for dr. M to come in.
"Hello Charlie, how are you?!?" "I'm good, you?!" "Good, good!! You nervous" she asks smiling. I chuckle "yeah, just a bit" "ohh, that's alright!! We can get started whenever you're ready"
I lay back on the table, lifting my shirt up just enough so that dr.m is able to press around on it, making sure there's no unnecessary pain. Once that's done and everything is clear, she puts that cold gel on and the monitor before starting to look for the baby.
It doesn't take long at all before she turns the screen to where I can see! "Here we are!! Looks like the stress inflammation has gone down, so good on you!!" She says and I'm actually proud of myself. "We're looking great so far, super healthy" dr. M states. I just smile, staring at the little head that's on the screen
"Ok, you both look just fine so now, you just have to let me know whenever you're ready to find out" "oh my gosh, ok...wait- can you write it down please?!" I ask nervously "of course" I watch her write on a covered piece of paper before she hands it to me. I make eye contact with her, just to see her eyes smile back at me. I open it slowly but once I see the first letter, my hands reach for my face!!The appointment went very well, and I officially know the gender of our baby, but now I have to think about how I'll tell Nick. I wish I would've thought about this sooner because I'm currently in the car scrambling through Pinterest.
When I finally find something that I'm able to pull off in less than three hours, I settle on it and head to a shopping center.
As I pull into the driveway of our home, I notice that I have like an hour and a half before Nick will be home. When I get all of the bags into the kitchen, I start to go through them, not even remembering what I bought in the first place.
I see a bunch of things that are a specific one color, a gift box, and iron on letters. Once I set everything out, I get started on my DIY.
It took me a whole hour to get that done, so after I cleaned up, I placed a delivery order for takeout since I've run out of time to make anything. But now, we wait.Nick:
I swear today has been the longest day of my life, but it's all good because I'm about to walk through the front door, see my husband, and find out the gender of our baby bean.
I can feel the huge smile on my face as I walk into the house. "Babyy" I sing out "living room" Charlie replies as I report to him. He's on the couch, laptop in hand before I pull it away and set it on the table "hi" I say leaning in for a kiss. When I pull away, I sit next to Charlie and take a deep breath. "Ok, I'm ready" "ready for what?!" He asks, chuckling. I look at him confused before glancing at my phone for the date "gender reveal is today" "I don't know what you're talking about" Charlie says, looking at me like I'm crazy "w-what, Charlie you're pregnant and you were supposed to find out the gender of the baby today. And now it's your turn to tell me!!" "Noo that's on the 24th!!" He says, still giggling as if something is funny "yeah, today" "the 24th of April Nick" Charlie says and my jaw drops immediately "no way...you're kidding" "mmm no-sorry" "that's just ruined my whole day" I say still completely in shock that I mixed this up. Charlie leans on my shoulder, doing his best to comfort me "a package came for you, might cheer you up!!" He says pointing to a box that's on one of the other couches. I get up to retrieve it before joining Charlie again. I flip the package around a bit looking for a label "doesn't say who it's from" I say looking over at char who just shrugs. I open it anyways, revealing a black square sitting on top. It had a cotton material, so I assume it's just a folded shirt. I lift it up to see a bunch of pink gift stuffing. "What the hell?!" I let out before unraveling the shirt that has white letters that spell:
